1. Beauty and The Belly
=========================
I am amazed that more people don't connect their face to theirfood.
They wake up and see a little more puffiness around their eyes,their nose might look larger than yesterday with a bit lessdefinition in their cheekbones, and they don't ask themselves:
'Did those sun dried tomatoes, prosciutto and provolone on mysalad last night do this?' or 'What about that microwaved pre-packaged pasta I had for lunch?' 'Did I drink enough wateryesterday?' (FYI - the more water you drink, the less water youretain) or 'did that diet soda and anchovy pizza go to myface?'
They just unhappily accept these changes as part of the agingprocess and something they can't control. They might consider afew nips and tucks for the future, but other than that they feelas if there is nothing they can do.
Well there is something that can be done and it is as simple aspaying attention to what goes in and out of your belly.
For example, convenience and processed foods, and foods withpreservatives, often make the body work harder at digestion,assimilation, and elimination. Consequently, that difficultyshows up in the body and on the skin.
Processed foods are often pre-packaged in boxes, cans, and evenfrozen. Here are a few criticisms about these foods:
--Typically they are manufactured from almost inedibleagricultural products
--They are high in fat and calorie contents
--They are the real culprit behind obesity
--They are often Genetically Modified (GMO)
--Sometimes an irradiation process is used
--Preservatives are almost always used
The reason these types of foods can affect your face is becausemore often than not your body identifies these types of foods asa foreign invader, or allergen (to which the body reactsallergically). Then, the body's immune system is activated tofight this invader or allergen. One of the actions of the immunesystem is inflammation and therefore puffiness can occur.
If there is a sluggish elimination system and the body can't getrid of this foreign stuff easily, then more puffiness can occur!
I want to point out here that although I'm writing specificallyabout how these foods affect our looks, I don't want to minimizetheir negative effects on the entire body (that's for anotherarticle). But I will say here is that this inflammation happensthroughout the body affecting joints too(arthritis is related to many foods that are eaten and thecondition of the digestive system).
The organs that are involved in elimination are the skin (yes,that's an organ - its the largest organ in the body), lungs,kidneys, liver, colon, and the lymphatic system. When thecolon is sluggish the other organs of elimination can beaffected resulting in things like skin rashes, coughs, andconstipation.
The lymphatic system is a circulatory system whose primaryfunction is to help cleanse the body of toxins. There arevessels and glands that run throughout the body - including theface and the colon. (Check here to learn where these are locatedin the head and face http://tinyurl.com/qv6jt).
When the colon is sluggish, the lymph can get sluggish, andconsequently this can show up in your face. The areas around theeyes and the face have many lymph vessels. Therefore,proper elimination is very important in minimizing facialpuffiness!
As a colon therapist, I know of several ways to help a sluggishcolon. There are mechanical ways (colonics, enemas, colemaboards) and there are nutritional ways. Both approaches can beeffective. I just learned about a new product that Young Livinghas developed and I am very excited about it. It is a cleansingproduct and a nutritional superfood energizer that tastesdelicious. It is called 'Balance Complete'.
Balance Complete has balanced fiber that is really important ina cleansing product. Balanced fiber includes both soluble andinsoluble fiber and accomplishes two things:
--Absorbs toxins
--Cleanses and scrubs the colon walls as it moves through theintestines
Along with balanced fiber this product has essentialglyconutrients, essential fats, key antioxidants, protein fromvery clean whey out of New Zealand, digestive enzymes, and lotsmore!
Here are the some of the actions of this product:
--Toxin and fat elimination
--Enhances nutrient absorption
--Supports cholesterol levels
--Maintains normal blood sugar
--Nurtures probiotics and colon health
--Eases gas and bloating
--Curbs food craving
Its a great meal replacement for people who are looking to take offpounds, nourish themselves, and cleanse at the same time.
And of course, it has the highest grade essential oils in it.Essential oils help to drive nutrients into the cells as well asbalance the digestive system.
Mix 2 scoops in 8 ounces of water. It's delicious.

2. Are You a Caregiver? This Is For You. . .
=============================================
If you are helping a family member or friend with their needs insome way, shape, or form, then you are considered to be acaregiver.
A caregiver is defined as anyone who provides help or care (oftenunpaid) to anyone in the household or any relative, whether ornot the relative lives with the caregiver. This help includespersonal needs, meals, household chores, shopping, paperwork,medication, getting around, or visiting regularly to see how thecare receiver is doing.
'More than 50 million people provide care for a chronically ill,disabled or aged family member or friend during any given year'(Source: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, InformalCaregiving: Compassion in Action. Washington, DC: 1998, andNational Family Caregivers Association, Random Sample Survey ofFamily Caregivers, Summer 2000, Unpublished)
If this is you, then you most likely have more stress or worrythan the average person, and may be taking more medicationsyourself than you were before.
The National Alliance for Caregiving say caregivers lives havebecome more difficult in a number of ways, such as:
--90% of caregivers have more stress or worry--69% of caregivers have less time spent with family and friends--51% of caregivers are now taking more medications--37% of caregivers have less time spent at work--10% of caregivers use of alcohol and prescription drugs morefrequently

Many caregivers suffer from depression and often their own healthstarts to decline. Who's out there to help the caregivers?
This is nothing new to the nurse, holistic healer, orclergyperson - but they signed on for this professionally. Thevolunteer caregiver, the designated caregiver, and theprofessional caregiver all have to look out for their health too.
Healing Touch classes have been taught to Health CareProfessionals, clergy, and lay persons for over a decade now -all throughout the world. Many people come into the classes withthe intention of learning more caregiving skills. The end resultfor almost everyone in this program is that they find that they,the caregiver, receive tremendous benefit and feel that they nowhave a tool to take care of themselves AND their care receiver.

=================================================
The European Masters in Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine aremeeting in Paris October 13 - 15. One topic on their agenda isthe importance of Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's)in Preventativeand Longevity Medicine http://tinyurl.com/ze7lj.
This is very affirming for those of us who are taking fish oiland flax oil supplements. The Europeans are always up on thebest in health and beauty.
The new 'Omega Blue' product that came on line at Young Living isa high quality fish oil (using non-molecular distillation torid the oil of mercury, heavy metals and other toxins). It's agreat combo of fish oil and high antioxidant essential oils.

4. Essential Oil Tip: Cooling Hot Flashes
===========================================
Therapeutic grade peppermint oil is great for when you have a hotflash (power surge!). A drop or two rubbed on your hands andapplied to the back of your neck can cool you down instantly. Ifthesensation feels a bit burny on the skin add a little olive oilor a massage oil base.
To prevent the onslaught of hot flashes try some Endoflex(YLEO) to help balance the hormonal system. Rub a few drops ofthis oil under your ankles (reflex points for the female organs)every day.
Order your essential oils from your Young Living distributor orby going to http://tinyurl.com/aenfp
