1. Prevent Holiday Pounds
==========================
This is a time of year when we are most apt to put
on the pounds ~ even if we are well intended to
NOT eat the cookies!
With all of the social events, gatherings, and festivities, we
have more opportunities to eat more often - and a darn good
excuse - "its the holidays!".
Here are some tips to prevent weight gain over this holiday
season:
--Make sure you have a few supplements that will naturally keep
your metabolism in check, such as chromium. Chromium is used in
the body for carbohydrate metabolism and insulin function.
The Institute of Medicine has set the Reference Daily Intake (RDI)
for chromium at 120 mcg. Clinical research, however, suggests
that 200-400 mcg is an appropriate daily intake for optimal
health benefits. Read more: http://snipurl.com/chromium
--Essential Fatty Acids (like fish oil, flax and evening primrose
oils) are also good supplements to be taking. EFA's are known
to enhance "thermogenesis" and lipid metabolism which reduces
body fat deposits.
--Drink green tea - it too increases metabolism
--Use peppermint oil everyday (inhalation or topical), it
decreases appetite. (It's also great for sinus congestion,
headaches, joint discomfort, upset stomachs too!)
--If you are attending an evening party or dinner with friends or
family, make sure you eat a big lunch.
--Wait one hour after you eat before you hit the sweets.
--Don't drink alcohol on an empty stomach. If and when you do
drink alcoholic beverages, alternate with non-alcoholic drinks.
--If you are having your own dinner party, place the foods
strategically so you can grab for healthier choices right next
to the less than healthier choice (ie - celery, cucumber,
and carrots next to or in the cheese tray. . .and your fruit next
to the cookies.)
--Stop eating when you are full!

2. Holiday Cookies - For Your Bath!
=======================================
Holiday Bath Cookies
Here's a great way to take all the cookies
you want and not gain an ounce - by bathing
in them!
1/2 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
2 tablespoons light oil
2 eggs
2 cups finely ground sea salt
1/2 cup baking soda
5-6 drops essential oil of your choice
--Blend all the ingredients to form a dough mixture.
--Roll a teaspoon of dough between your palms to form a
ball. Do the same for all dough then place balls on an ungreased
cookie sheet.
--Bake bath cookies for 10 minutes, until lightly browned.
--Allow to cool.
--Dissolve 1 or 2 cookies in warm bath water.

4. Essential Oil Tip: Christmas Spirit
========================================
This is the most wonderful essential oil blend.
It's a purifying blend of evergreen, citrus, and
spice that brings joy, peace, happiness, and security.
This blend is a combination of Orange, Cinnamon Bark,
and Spruce.
This smells wonderful diffused throughout the home
and it has great natural antiviral, antifungal,
and antibacterial effects!
Cold air diffusion (with a special essential oil diffuser)
is the best way to use this blend for the optimum effects.
You can also add a few drops to wood before putting it in
the fireplace. And for a real treat when cleaning the house
you can splash a few drops on your paper vacuum cleaner bag!

8. HSL's Joke or Cute Quote of the Week
=========================================
Entering Heaven
Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at
the pearly gates.
"In honor of this holy season," Saint Peter said, "You must each
possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven."
The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a
lighter. He flicked it on. "It represents a candle," he said.
"You may pass through the pearly gates," Saint Peter said.
The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of
keys. He shook them and said, "They're bells." Saint Peter said,
"You may pass through the pearly gates."
The third man started searching desperately through his pockets
and finally pulled out a pair of women's glasses.
St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, "And
just what do those symbolize?"
The man replied, "They're Carol's."
