1. Six Simple Steps to Sensible Holiday Eating
===============================================

Even health-conscious "foodies" face
temptation to eat crummy over the holidays.

Why?

Holidays are the best excuse to eat
delicious foods that are bad for us,
and in excessive amounts!

Listed below are six steps to sensible eating
over the holidays so you can:

--feel good
--stay chemically balanced
--maintain your weight
--have a good time
--keep a positive attitude
--enter the new year with good self esteem

1). Eat before you are hungry.

Interesting concept ~ and it works! Especially
when you have social affairs to attend. Eat
before you get there.

2). Think of yourself as a person who eats well.

You may have to fake this one, but remember,
your subconscious mind doesn't know the difference
between what's real or imagined, so think this
anyway - even if you don't believe it's true!

3). If you are full, stop eating.

This is actually very hard to do because the
good 'bad' things have addictive components
that drive us back to them. So, just bring your
conscious awareness to it - that will make it easier
to stop.

4). Eat lotsa little portions.

Allow yourself to keep going back for more food,
but teeny amounts. It's another one of those things
that will trick your triggers into not triggering you!

5). Practice declining foods you don't want to eat that are
offered to you.

This is a toughy too. It's the social pressure thing.
Plan your excuse before you go to your holiday gatherings.
To stay empowered on this one don't give an excuse that will
make people feel sorry for you, like "I'm dieting", or "I'm
allergic to sugar and wheat." Just say a confident "No,
Thank You."

6). Think of what motivates you to eat better.

It's that 'vision board' on your mind screen.
How you want to look. How you want to feel.
The clothes you like to wear. The health you
want to embody.

2. Essential Oil Home Made Gift Ideas
======================================

So many of us who just love, love, love our essential oils
love to think of ways we can share them with others.

Home made holiday gifts are a great way to share our oils
and show practical application of them too!

* Scented Pine Cones
Pine Cones hold scent - even though therapeutic
grade essential oils that have no additives and
fixatives - they can stay on pine cones!
Christmas Spirit Essential Oil Blend
(YL) is a great blend to use for the holiday.
Drop several drops of oil into a spray bottle
with water. Spray your pine cones.

* Natural Moth Chaser
Combine 2 cups of cedar chips and 2 cups of
lavender buds.
Add 3 drops Lemon Oil, 5 drops cedarwood, and 5
drops of lavender.
Mix in glass bowl.
Place mixture in basket and set in closet or make
sachets and hang in closet.

* Natural Dry-Itchy Skin Eliminator
A great gift for your 'itchy friends'.
Mix this blend in a pretty blue bottle and tie it
with a red ribbon with a tag 'For your bath'.
Mix together:
6 drops hyssop oil
9 drops lavender
6 drops of geranium oil
1/4 cup sweet-almond oil
Instructions: Add to warm bath water and soak
for twenty minutes (this makes about 3 baths).

3. Success Quote: Charles Dickens
=================================

"Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of
our childhood days, recall to the old man the pleasures of his
youth, and transport the traveler back to his own fireside and
quiet home!"

============================================================
4. Recipe of the Week: Holiday Artichoke Bruschetta
============================================================

Here's a great Red and Green luscious appetizer!

Ingredients:

--1 med. jar marinated artichoke hearts, drained and chopped

--1/2 cup grated Romano cheese

--1/3 cup finely chopped red onion

--5 tablespoons mayonnaise

--1 French baguette, cut into 1/3 inch thick slices

Directions:

--Preheat the broiler.

--In a medium bowl, mix marinated artichoke hearts, Romano
cheese, red onion and mayonnaise.

--Top French baguette slices with equal amounts of the artichoke
heart mixture.

--Arrange slices in a single layer on a large baking sheet.

--Broil in the preheated oven 2 minutes, or until toppings are
bubbly and lightly browned.

--Can add spinach or tomatoes!

This makes 8 baguettes.

5. HSL's Joke or Cute Quote of the Week
=========================================

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at
the pearly gates.

"In honor of this holy season," Saint Peter said, "you must each
possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven."

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a
lighter. He flicked it on. "It represents a candle," he said.

"You may pass through the pearly gates," said Saint Peter.

The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of
keys. He shook them and said, "They're bells."

Saint Peter said "You may pass through the pearly gates."

The third man started searching desperately through his pockets
and finally pulled out a pair of ladies G-string underwear.

St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, "And
just what do those symbolize?"

The man replied, "These are Carol's."

7. Personal message from Marilee (video links below)
====================================================

One of my favorite childhood memories of Christmastime
was writing my letter to Santa.

Two weeks before Christmas we had a special night
where my parents gathered my brothers and I, freshly
bathed and in our flannel Christmas PJ's, to write a
letter with our (long) lists to Santa letting him
know what we wanted for Christmas.

After we wrote our letters, we would place them on the
iron shovel, put the shovel into the flames of the
fire, and watch them catch fire and go up in smoke.

We knew Santa would get the messages from us magically.

As I look back I know that these experiences writing to Santa
helped to shape my belief that somewhere in that Big Sky, where
Santa and his reindeers fly, was a great Power that helped to
make our dreams come true.

That belief, combined with what became a voracious study of
success principles (for health and wealth), developing expertise
in a few different areas, meditation, prayer, and very hard work
has led me to continuously expanding and heightened levels of
consciousness, good health, and success (and I am grateful for
every bit!).

This past week I hit a milestone in my online business with the
number of people (meaning you!) who are subscribed to this
weekly newsletter. There are now over 5000 of you!

Reaching the 5000 subscriber mark has meant so much to me!

It's a result of 3 years of consistently hard work (never missing
a week or an issue) of sharing much of my knowledge (and others
who I interview), tips, passions, insights, resources, and
research on the many natural healing modalities and business
philosophies that I favor and practice as a professional nurse
healer, business woman, and entrepreneur.

Milestones are turning points, and turning points bring
opportunities. Opportunities, when embraced, bring change. And
change, in turn, brings more opportunity.

You will be seeing some great changes happening here at Home Spa
Lady and in my offerings in the next few weeks and into the New
Year. These changes will give you some great opportunities for
improving your health and wealth. And these opportunities, if you
choose to embrace them, can bring great changes in your life.

So stay tuned and help me help you by celebrating milestones,
embracing opportunity, and welcoming change!

And on a lighter note............

I was in the "Santa at the Mall" line with my niece and we were
next in line to get photos with Santa - and I could overhear the
conversation of Santa and the little girl on his lap. Santa
asked her "What do you want for Christmas?" The little girl
looked up at him very surprised and said "didn't you get my
email?"

Well, I cracked up! and thought - "wow, that's a long way off
from my little letter to Santa on the iron shovel in our
fireplace!"

As much as I love email and communicating online, I wouldn't give
up that fireplace experience for anything!

I hope your holiday weeks are not too stressful and that you
savor them and be safe!

See you next week and stay tuned for upcoming HSL announcements!

Love, happiness, good health, and success,

Marilee
