Why Some People Don't Like Bright Green Lawns

I am very suspicious of pristine bright green lawns that have no dandelions. Not only do I love the bright yellow displays of these beautiful weeds that independently pop up - but when I see dandelions I know I'm safe and usually in chemical-free territory. Not so on 'dandelion-less
lawns'..........

I always wondered what the big deal was to most homeowners who had dandelions on their lawn?


I say "if you don't like them, just go pull them out - and when they grow again - go pull them out again. A little dirt on the hands won't hurt ya - just don't use those chemicals - especially if you have pets!"

This past week I had two neighbors go crazy with Round-Up, a chemical spray to kill weeds like dandelions - and it kills other things too - like brain cells - but most people don't know that (well, maybe one neighbor did - he had a face mask on as he was running around his front lawn spraying every little thing that wasn't a blade of grass - as if that was going to help anything anyway...........).

It was so upsetting to me because I opened my windows for the beautiful spring air and all I could
smell were chemicals - they penetrated my house (and our homes are far apart!).


I had my essential oil diffusers running in the front and back of my downstairs 24/7 so it would kill any of the airborne petro-chemicals that were filtering in (diffused Purification and Lemon) as well as get rid of the odor.

I am also greatly concerned about my dogs! Our favorite relaxing time together is taking our walks - but now it is stressful since chemicals are hitting the lawns. I have to work to keep them on the sidewalks and worry about where they sniff and lick.

When I see a grassy area with dandelions I feel so relieved - and we hang out there for awhile.

So my little Spring Dream is a field of dandelions that Prinny, Pepper, and I can romp through chemically-free and then roll around on the ground, lay on our backs, pant, and count clouds!

Natural Weed Killer Suggestion:

Combine 1 gallon of white vinegar with 1 cup of salt and a tablespoon of liquid dish soap. The soap is a wetting agent that helps the vinegar and salt mix. Stir it all up and pour or spray on the weeds.
