1. Satisfy Your Appetite Through Smell
======================================

Smelling certain things can affect your appetite.

Smelling food can make you hungry, hungrier, or
may even satisfy your hunger.

According to Dr. Alan Hirsch, the neurological director of the
Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, smelling
certain food items can fool the brain into thinking the appetite
has been satisfied.

Dr. Hirsch researched scent and hunger with a group of medical
students who were given vials of favorable food aromas to sniff
when they felt hungry.

Some of them lost weight, so he then researched over 3000 people
who were overweight.

These folks were told not to change what they ate or their
exercise patterns. They were instructed to sniff inhalers when
they felt hungry. These inhalers contained the smell of either
banana, green apple, or peppermint.

After six months most people lost weight - some people even lost
up to 100 pounds. The average weight loss was 4.7 pounds a month.

Dr. Hirsch is the author of "Dr. Hirsch's Guide to Scentsational
Weight Loss" (Element Books, $19.95) in which he explains how the
olfactory sense (the sense of smell) works and how it can be used
for weight loss.

Dr. Hirsch is also the expert that large corporations hire when
they want to use scent to sell.

Personally I am curious to know if these scents are synthetic or
authentic. My guess is that they are synthetic based on the
research that I have done on Dr. Hirsch's work.

If you are interested in this topic make sure you check out the
essential oil video tip below. I am showing you how to make your
own "sniffer" with organic peppermint essential oil!

=========================================================
2. Essential Oil Tip: Sniff Peppermint to Curb Appetite
=========================================================

Inhaling peppermint can help to diminish appetite according to
Dr. Hirsch.

There are other advantages to inhaling peppermint such as help
for headaches and clearing up stuffed sinuses.

Watch this video on how to make your own inhaler for peppermint.

=====================
1. Organic Lawn Care
=====================

I love to see dandelions.

Not just because they are a beautiful yellow, but
because it is a sign of a chemical-free lawn.

When I walk my dog Prin this time of year and during the
warmer months, I always have to be cautious of where we are
walking and he is sniffing. I'm never concerned for him in an
area where dandelions are growing.

Lawns everywhere are treated with chemical weed killers,
fertilizers and toxic pesticides.

As much as I'm against using toxins on lawns, I do appreciate when
people take the courtesy to warn us with lawn flags that show
that area has been treated, but I can't trust that all people do
that.

If you want to keep weeds under control in your lawn without the
use of chemicals. . . surprise, surprise. . . essential oils can
help.

"Essential Oils for Organic Weed Control"

I'm not encouraging you to use your essential oils on your
lawns like we do on our bodies - because that could be
ridiculously expensive.

But I do want you to know that essential oils are being studied
for organic weed control, and there is a way to use them where
you won't break the bank.

A study has been done by the Appalachian Fruit Research Station
in West Virginia on the herbicidal effects of plant-derived oils
(aka essential oils).

Twenty five oils were tested for their herbicidal effects on
dandelion leaves.

The most effective oils found were:

--Red thyme
--Summer savory
--Cinnamon
--Clove

These were found to be the most phytotoxic - that means
inhibiting the growth of plants. (Learn more about the
study: http://tinyurl.com/pamx9)

Cinnamon had the highest herbicidal activity. This is
primarily because of eugenol, the main component in cinnamon.

Essential oils can be used directly on the weeds. Or they can
be added to other natural products such as herbicidal soaps,
to enhance their effects.

These soaps work by penetrating the waxy coating on plant leaves
and cause them to dry out.

If you are energetic and willing to spend a bit, you could create
a small mixture of dish soap and water and add a few of these
oils and spray on your lawn.

Doing this would give you a good chance of cutting down weed
growth and you would also be naturally treating the area for
fleas and ticks.

Here's a quick video (33 sec) on my recommendation of organic
dandelion control:

2. Essential Oil Tip: For Your Car
========================================

I like to have essential oils diffusing in my car.

It is easy to do with a tissue in your vents or the
open baggie under the seat trick.

Watch this one minute, 45 second video on how you can do
this easily.

I highlight Purification and Lemon - it's a great combo.

=================================
1. Natural Tips for Better Sleep
=================================

Is it hormonal? emotional? ill-health?
foods? medications? mental stress and worry?
breathing difficulties? tense muscles or pain?
the person next to you?

There are so many possible factors
that can be attributed to sleep disorders.

And there are just as many or more
medication-based "answers" to this problem
that work for some people some of the time.

If this is a problem for you then one of the best
things to do is begin by taking your own inventory.

Make a list of what in your life is making you feel
out of balance and track that daily for a few days.
Notice if its an ongoing situation that could be
disturbing your sleep.

This process helps you to focus in on yourself and
start paying attention to things in your life and body
that you might not have noticed before. Some imbalances
can be contributing to your problem.

Here are some natural sleep aids and tips that can help you
snooze the night through:

--Keep your bedtime routine consistent

--Make your bedroom as comfortable as possible
-eliminate clutter
-remove televisions, computers, phones, and
unnecessary lighting

--Wear pure cotton (organic is best) sleepwear

--Have comfortable pillows

--Take a Lavender Bath
-a few drops of St. Marie's Lavender
(my fav from Young Living) in your tub!

--Eliminate Caffeine and Sugar after 12 noon

--Put essential oils on your feet before you
get into bed (see essential oils tips)

--Use a Sleep Affirmation:
"I will sleep deeply and peacefully, to awake in the morning
fresh and full of energy"

========================================
2. Essential Oil Tip: Rutavala
========================================

This new blend from Young Living was formulated to relax the
mind and body. Ruta graveolens is a very special essential oil
from Ecuador and it is combined with valerian and lavender
essential oils.

There are several testimonials from people who had sleep
disorders and used this oil blend with great success - like
sleeping through the night for the first time in years!

Quick video (31 seconds) http://snipurl.com/rutavala_4_sleep

Living distributor or go to: http://tinyurl.com/aenfp

===============================
3. Success Tip: Fran Lebowitz
===============================

"I love sleep because it is both pleasant and safe to use."

~ Fran Lebowitz

==========================================================
4. Recipe of the Week: Warm Milk and Honey Drink for Sleep
=========================================================

Maybe its just the cozy warmth of this drink, but it works for
many. . . .

1 glass warm milk
1 drop vanilla extract
1 teaspoon honey

Drink before going to bed.

=========================================
5. HSL's Joke or Cute Quote of the Week
=========================================

Things To Say If You Get Caught Sleeping At Your Desk

--"They told me at the blood bank this might happen."

--"This is just a 15 minute power-nap like they raved about in
the last time management course you sent me to."

--"Whew! Guess I left the top off the liquid paper."

--"I wasn't sleeping! I was meditating on the mission statement
and envisioning a new paradigm!"

--"This is one of the seven habits of highly effective people!"

--"I was testing the keyboard for drool resistance."

--"Actually I'm doing a "Stress Level Elimination Exercise Plan"
(SLEEP). I learned it at the last mandatory seminar you made me
attend.

--"I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work
related stress."

--"Darn! Why did you interrupt me? I had almost figured out a
solution to our biggest problem."

--"The coffee machine is broken...."

--"Someone must've put decaf in the wrong pot."

--"Boy, that cold medicine I took last night just won't wear
off!"

--"Ah, the unique and unpredictable circadian rhythms of the
workaholic!"

--"I wasn't sleeping, I was trying to pick up contact lens
without hands."

AND THE #1 BEST THING TO SAY IF YOU GET CAUGHT SLEEPING AT YOUR
DESK:

"Amen"

===================================
Special Tonight: The Last Lecture
===================================

I rarely, if ever, recommend anything on television -
but this is a must-see Wednesday evening.

Diane Sawyer is interviewing Professor Randy Paugh who has
pancreatic cancer, was expected to live 3 - 6 months, and gave
his Last Lecture.

He is living the rest of his life to the fullest.

This is a true love story.

==========================================
1. Healing Psoriasis from the Inside Out
==========================================

During the years of my practice in my Wellness Center,
I received many patient referrals from Dr. John Pagano, the
author of the book "Healing Psoriasis: The Natural Alternative".

These patients were suffering severely from psoriasis. Many of
them sought out Dr. Pagano's "alternative treatment" as a last
effort because medical treatments had failed them.

Dr. Pagano referred these patients to my center because we
offered colon hydrotherapy, one of the holistic approaches to
psoriasis that he recommended.

Psoriasis, along with eczema, are conditions where the body is
toxic. Internal cleansing combined with a few other natural
approaches can offer healing to those suffering from these
uncomfortable and unsightly conditions.

To understand this approach it is important to remember that the
skin is an organ of elimination. When other eliminatory organs
are over-taxed, especially in the intestinal system, the skin
takes over their job. Many skin disturbances are the body's
attempt to get rid of toxins.

Foods are an extremely important factor with psoriasis. There
are certain foods that contribute to flare ups, and there are
certain foods that allow the healing.

The more dealings I had with people with psoriasis and
the more I learned about the foods they ate, the more convinced I
became on how important nutrition is for the psoriatic (name for
person living with psoriasis).

This might sound kind of odd, but it is true. . . .the actual
skin lesions of these folks looked like the foods they binged on.
The popular culprit - pizza, or foods with lots of white baked
flour and tomato (pasta). Bagels and cream cheese were also a
common favorite.

Besides the bright red "tomato" colored skin, some of these
patients also had white crusty patches that resembled mold on
cheese. This suggested to me internal fungus. I could tell by
survey that cheeses, tomatoes, and white bread were the greatest
offenders to these folks.

I trained as a colon therapist and became certified under a few
different programs. I did this to get the depth and breadth of
this modality.

The program and philosophy that I most embrace is the
Cayce/Reilly approach to health. This is the same approach that
is discussed in "Healing Psoriasis: The Natural Alternative".
The suggested diet emphasizes eliminating the nightshade family
plants for conditions such as psoriasis and arthritis.
Psoriasis is often accompanied by arthritis (there is a strong
connection between digestion and joints).

The nightshade family plant foods are tomatoes, potatoes,
peppers, and eggplants. Again, I found that the people with
psoriasis that I treated ate these foods very frequently.

Here are some key factors and recommendations for the
natural approach to healing psoriasis from the Cayce/Reilly
approach to health and Dr.John Pagano's book "Healing Psoriasis:
The Natural Alternative":

--Psoriasis is basically a toxemia with the cause being poor
eliminations and a thinning of the intestinal wall

--There is excessive acidity in the blood

--Internal cleansing is recommended

--Spinal adjustments from a chiropractor or an osteopath is
recommended

--Sources of irritation are commonly the duodenum, jejunum, and
upper intestinal tract

--Colonics or home enemas are recommended

--Diet should be highly alkalinizing

--Fish, fowl, and lamb are okay to eat

--Drink 6 - 8 glasses of pure water daily

--No alcohol

I would also add:

--Eliminate breads and baked goods
--Eat lots of leafy green vegetables
--Exercise to mobilize the lymph system which also helps to
detoxify the body
--Take digestive enzymes
--Get fiber in the diet

There's always so many questions as to what essential oils can be
helpful for psoriasis. It is very important to note that
although there are essential oils that can help diminish the
discomfort of the condition, no essential oil can help psoriasis
completely if these other recommendations are not followed.

Some recommended essential oils/products:

--Juvaflex over liver for liver cleansing
--JuvaCleanse internally (start with one drop)
--Rose Ointment topically
--Lavender topically
--LavaDerm (see below)
--Cleansing Trio or Internal Cleansing products that contain
therapeutic essential oils

========================================
2. Essential Oil Tip: Lavender and Aloe
========================================

Young Living has an excellent spray product for the
skin for burns and other irritations. This product is
called "LavaDerm".

It is a cooling mist that soothes and nourishes.

===============================
3. Success Tip: Dale Carnegie
===============================

"Flaming enthusiasm, backed by horse sense and persistence, is
the quality that most frequently makes for success."

~Dale Carnegie

==========================================================
4.Recipe of the Week: Fennel, Watercress, and Apple Salad
=========================================================

Watercress is a highly recommended food to eat for cleansing the
skin - here is a great salad using watercress!

Fennel, Watercress and Apple Salad

1/2 cup balsamic vinegar

1 large fennel bulb, trimmed

2 bunches watercress, large stems removed

1 small red apple, cored, sliced 1/8-inch thick

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/4 cup toasted pine nuts

1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

--Boil balsamic vinegar in a small skillet over medium high heat
until reduced to 1/4 cup, about 5 minutes

--Cut fennel bulb in half lengthwise, remove core, slice 1/8
inch thick lengthwise

--Combine fennel, watercress and apple in a large salad bowl.

--Add olive oil and toss

--Divide on 4 salad plates, drizzle with slightly cooled
balsamic vinegar

--Sprinkle with pine nuts and Parmesan cheese

=========================================
5. HSL's Joke or Cute Quote of the Week
=========================================

A young woman wanting to make her skin as smooth as possible
heard that milk baths make you beautiful, so she left a
note for her milkman to leave her 15 gallons of milk.

When the milkman read the note, he felt there must be a mistake.
He thought she probably meant 1.5 gallons, so he knocked on the
door to clarify her request.

The woman came to the door and the milkman said: "I found your
note to leave 15 gallons of milk. Did you mean 15 gallons or 1.5
gallons?"

She said, "I want 15 gallons. I'm going to fill my bathtub
with milk and take a milk bath."

The milkman asked, "You want it pasteurized?"

She replied, "No, just up to my shoulders.

6. Marilee's Intro to Internet Marketing Course Starts Tonight
==============================================================

Like I said to you in the email I sent you on Monday - I have
made some of my most important decisions at the last minute.

This 7 week course (6 + bonus week) starts today and you can
still register.

Remember if the dates do not work for you it doesn't matter
because you can listen to the re-broadcast of the call.

Every week is packed full of great stuff for you - with some of
the best speakers and teachers in the industry.

Tonight is especially fun - it is one of my favorite nights.

At the end of this first class everyone will be up and running on
their own blog. I love the "ohhs" and "ahhs" we get from this
class. Some people start the class not even knowing what a blog
is - and they have a full internet presence and a blog up and
running at the end of the class.

That's only one little gem of many of what you get in this
course.

The real value is in learning the many ways to make money (from
what you are already doing in life) when you take some of your
work to the internet. You learn about that in Class #4.

If you want more info and learn how to register go to:
http://www.introtointernetmarketing.com

Oh - and one other thing. Once you take this course you can
always come back for free in the future. . . .and people LOVE
that! I have over 20 of graduates already scheduled in for this
series!
