Let the energy of gratitude drastically improve your life!
It is so ridiculously easy!


Most people don't even think about this, let alone apply it. Why is that? Probably because it is so easy and it doesn't cost a thing!

Thinking grateful thoughts can:

  • Diminish negative thinking

    • A negative thought cannot reside in the same mental space a positive thought resides. Grateful thoughts are positive thoughts. Initially it might feel like an effort to consciously control what you are thinking, but after awhile it becomes a natural habit.

  • Attracts what you want

    • Grateful positive thoughts set up a vibrational field that works with the Law of Attraction, where like attracts like. If this is something hard to grasp, just try it. Have some fun and give it a try for the fun of it - and watch it really work!

How to Prepare Your Tummy for Thanksgiving!




As you prepare yourmenus, your invites, your shopping lists, and your homes for next Thursday'sThanksgiving Feast - you should add one more extremely important item to yourlist - the preparation of your own tummy.

Here is why ~...how did you feel the last time you ate a holiday dinner that included hors d'oeuvres, wine, bread stuffing, meat, potatoes, cruciferous vegetables, and pie topped with whipped cream or ice cream?

Letme guess ... Bloated - Stuffed - Gassy - Spacey - Tired

It's not unusual for people to complain about eating too much, and the complaint is often accompanied by whines about bloating and grunts about pain. This discomfort can be some serious stuff! I know! I've been there! - and I want to do the best I can to avoid it - short of depriving myself all of the food. Even if it's organic and whole - the combining of those foods can play havoc on our gastrointestinal system.


So what can we do to prepare our own tummy for these treats?

Two things you can start with right away - this week! (one week from Thanksgivingso its a GREAT time to get on this regime!)

1. - Probiotics

2. - Digestive Enzymes


Additional info:

Take your acidophilus or probiotics on a daily basis to help to populate the gut with some good bacteria - the kind that will help balance the eco-terrainof your internal environment. It's important to take these on an empty stomach - even if you read some labels that say to take with food.

Actually, I have found the less expensive acidophilus (the kind they sell in pharmacies or places like CVS) instruct you to take with food. I would be cautious about them - they probably don't have many or any live cultures in them. If they did, they wouldn't tell you to take with food! Taking a good quality probiotic or acidophilus on an empty stomach helps ensure that the bacteria will take and be 'planted' and not be diluted with food.

Besidestaking capsules of acidophilus/probiotics - there are other ways to get these good live cultures into your belly and line that intestinal track withgood flora:

-Yogurt (preferably plain unsweetened)

-Kefir

-Cultured foods such as cultured vegetables found in Donna Gates material (author: The Body Ecology Diet)

Here's what to do for the bloating and discomfort after you've eaten...

1. One of my absolute favorite products for this, from Young Living is Alkalime!
Mix this white powdery substance in a glass of water and drink down - for instant
alkalinization. I guarantee you will fall in love with this product.

2.Rub some DiGize and/or Peppermint oil on your belly. DiGize is an essential oil blend that balances digestion. Peppermint is good for that also.




3. Take a walk! Even though you might be feeling tired after turkey - get yourself outdoors for a walk around the block - with your favorite family member.

4.Last but not least - Laugh! Laughter is good all around for balancingthe body mind and spirit, and awesome for digestion - so make sure you sit nextto the funniest family member at your dinner table!

Tips for End-of-Life Care at Home



Personal Note from Marilee~

Many of you don't know this but a special part of my work as a Nurse Healer serves End-of-Life Care with a program that I have called 'Peaceful Passages'.

My father, Martin J. Tolen, Sr, who passed away on November 26, 2001, asked me before he died to share with the world how wonderful the deathing process can actually be. He was a very spiritual man and was ready to make his transition. We used many complementary therapies with him while he was at home in hospice care, as we did with my mother during her transitioning weeks. We used Healing Touch, therapeutic use of essential oils, massage, music, and heart centered sharing. Even the hospice workers remarked at what differences they noted when we used these therapies (compared to other patients). These comfort and care measures seem to make them much more at peace, and it gave our family a way to participate and connect with them in their final days.

There is a free downloadable tip sheet on some measures that anyone can do at home to create an environment of peace with natural measures. Simple, but effective.



Below is an excerpt from some of my writings and tips as to what you can do at home to help someone as they are facing End-of-Life.

One of the most difficult things in life is experiencing the loss of a loved one. Worse than that is feeling the powerlessness of not knowing what to do to help make the loved one's transition more comfortable.


Here are some of the complementary therapies and ideas you can do to help:

  • Clear and straighten the environment A cluttered environment creates obstacles for movement and can be an unknown source of stress. Have the bedside and surrounding area clear from unnecessary clutter.

  • Control the room temperature. Most people who are sick or dying have altered body temperatures. Do your best to get a clear indication as to whether they are hot or cold and adjust the room temperature and bedding to regulate them.

  • Wipe face and eyes with warm, moistened, soft washcloth. This can feel so wonderful to the person who is bedridden. Offer it more than once or twice a day.

  • Lightly spray or diffuse essential oils in the environment. Essential Oils such as lavender and citrus can have a calming and peaceful effect. Mix a few drops with distilled water in a spray bottle to spray in the air, or diffuse with a cold air diffuser made specifically for aromatherapy use. Be certain not to use perfume or perfume grade oils. Use only therapeutic grade essential oils. To create a more spiritual environment, use oils from ancient scripture such as Frankincense.

  • Hold or rub their feet. Feet provide access to the entire body through reflex points. Whether you offer a gentle foot massage or just hold their feet - both offer comfort.

  • Clear their energy field. A simple measure of using your hands to clear and balance the energy field of the person who is sick or dying is frequently able to take someone from a level of discomfort to comfort. Place both of your hands approximately 3 inches off their body and move your hands in short sweeping motions downward. Start at the head and move toward the feet.

  • Gently brush their brow with a light touch. Touching someone's forehead can offer great comfort to them. People often touch their own foreheads when they feel distressed or unwell. Using a gentle touch to the forehead of someone who is sick or dying is a natural thing to do. Placing your hand and keeping it there, or lightly brushing their brow can offer comfort.

Repairing Shattered Energy


Forgive me football fans...



This past Sunday I went to the opening game of the Eagles here in Philadelphia (I'm still singing "Fly Eagles Fly" in my head), and it literally blew me away. I thought I knew what I was getting into because I see the games on TV once in awhile.

It always looks like everyone's having fun, cheering and all. I'm not really a football fan but I went because I thought it would be a great experience and something very different for me. Little did I know I would be watching the game with my fingers in my ears and my head between my knees (thank goodness for my yoga practice!).



The opening ceremonies touched my heart with the American flag being spread out across the field during the National Anthem - that was really nice. But when the four fighter jets ceremonially flew overhead at lightening speed, I had a "Hit the Deck!" reaction and in nanoseconds created an energetic foxhole and dived right in (my Healing Science training). Unfortunately it wasn't effective. The sound explosion got me! I felt completely blown apart (and then all I could think of was our guys and gals in the military who experience this for real, and feeling tremendously compassionate and gratefulness to them).



At first I thought it was just me, but when the big burly footbally guys with green bald heads sitting in front of me started to freak out, I knew that this was no small thing. If these guys were startled, stunned, and shattered (and they had tough, dense, energy fields) well then my experience of my (higher frequency) energy system feeling blown apart was not far fetched.




And that wasn't the only shattering experience! There were fireworks galore at the end of the opening ceremony, and we were sitting right near where they were being set off. Then, everytime there was a touchdown - and the Eagles scored big that day (woo-hoo Philly!) - they would shoot off a fireworks display! Well, I don't do fireworks. Never did. Fireworks are actually painful to me.



After the opening and about 2 touchdowns (which was probably already about $100,000 - $200,000 worth of "entertainment" in fireworks and fighter jets) I had my little routine down. Every time the fireworks would go off I would hold my ears until my forefingers met in the middle of my brain, scream at the top of my lungs (which just blended in with all the other screams), and as everyone jumped up to cheer, I did the opposite.


I slid back in my stadium chair until my head was on my seat and my legs and feet flailing up next to everyone's arms and hands - it was funny how no one noticed except for my family members. My brother and sister-in-law who took me, didn't know whether to laugh hysterically or profusely apologize. We all ended up laughing until we just about pee-d ourselves.


But when I went home I could tell, my energy field was shattered. I was exhausted, leaking energy, and felt very "out of sorts". Why am I telling you this? Because there are many things that "shatter" our energy fields and so often people don't have a clue. They know they don't feel right, or they are tired or dizzy or suddenly hypersensitive to things, but they don't know why. Actually most people don't even know about their energy field let alone think about how to care for it. Caring for our energy field is one of the most important self-care approaches we can take. Let me explain what this "shattered energy" is about, and this is a quick advanced lesson in Energy Medicine:


We have structured levels as part of our energy field - like a template - and these can shatter or get jolted upon certain events or encounters. The structured levels are structures on which the physical body subsists, so there is a direct connection to the body and reasons why someone would feel so funky when the energy is shattered.

Here are some things that can shatter your energy:

  • emotional upset

  • being involved or near an accident

  • experiencing or witnessing severe pain

  • loud arguments with people
  • common loud noises - like motorcycles and cars on the road that are obnoxiously loud


One of the best things that you can do to repair a shattered energy field is to have a session in energy work - such as Healing Touch, Reiki, Brennan work or even acupuncture. Massage would even be helpful. Not every one is going to have that access right away - and the sooner you can get to a treatment after the shattering event, the better! But one thing that can you can do at home to help repair shattered energy is using the essential oils (therapeutic grade of course - definitely not perfume grade). If you run an essential oil (like White Angelica or Valor) in your field, you can assist the structured levels of the field to naturally repair.


Many "energetic sensitives" like me have to be very careful about where we go and what we expose ourselves to - and we need to know how to shield, protect and repair the field (all can be done with running some eo's through your field).

What did I do the night I got home after the Eagles game to repair my field?

  • did a body scrub (that's for an upcoming issue)

  • took a lavender bath (that's another good way to get essential oils to repair our field)

  • ran Valor through my energy field

  • laid down on the bed, relaxed, and meditated

. . .and I skipped the sports report on the news that night!
