1. Seven Steps to Strengthen Your Health
=========================================

We don't have to get run down or sick more than
once to question how strong our health really is.

Over Thanksgiving I got really run down after hosting dinner
and then having another dinner for a different part of the family
on Black Friday (after a day of shopping!).

I did question how strong was my health. To feel okay in
one moment and then feel the onslaught of the flu in the next
moment.

I do admit, however, that I also questioned my sanity for hosting
two big dinners back to back like that!

Nevertheless, my energy started to crumble as my throat grew
more sore.

What did I reach for to heal my body of a virus that started to
fester?

Two things:
--My essential oils
--Healing foods

I've known about the power of foods to heal the body for many
years. I was introduced to the "macrobiotic" way of eating in
the mid 1980's when I studied in a Holistic Health Certification
program at Rosemont College.

I went on to take macrobiotic cooking classes and since have been
armed with wonderful food remedies for many ails.

As I went along in my holistic nursing career, I came across
many people who used the macrobiotic diet to heal life
threatening illness such as cancer.

I've come to find out that macrobiotics is not a d.iet per se, it
is a way of life.

What macrobiotics means is Great Life. Macro = Great. Biotics =
Life.

Michio Kushi, the man responsible for bringing macrobiotics from
Japan to the United States, has trained a handful of people who
are now the leading experts to carry on his work. One such
person is Denny Waxman who has authored the book "The Great Life
Diet" and founded an educational institution known as "The
Strengthening Health Institute".

Denny developed "Seven Steps to Strengthen Health" which are
listed below.

Denny will be elaborating on these and much more on a "Green Tea
with Marilee" TeleWebcast interview tonight (a live event which
will be professionally recorded that you can join by phone OR
internet).

Go here for the details: http://snipurl.com/gtwmdennywaxman

Here are the Seven Steps:

--Take time for your meals every day.
Sit down to eat your meals or snacks without doing other things.
This is the first step towards good health and will help you feel
more satisfied.

--Set your daily schedule.
Rise early and sleep before midnight.
Rise early to be more active and discharge more toxins. Sleep
before midnight to be more refreshed and healthy.

--Eat 2 or 3 complete and nutritionally balanced meals every day.
Grain and vegetable dishes together at the same meal provide the
most complete and balanced nutrition.

--Make your daily life active.
Walk for 30 minutes every day.

--Create a more natural environment.
You can think of your home as a recharging station. It is a place
to relax, return to balance and enrich your life.

--Make your macrobiotic practice work.
Keeping to the format of meals improves your ability to make
healthier food choices.

--Cultivate the spirit of health.
Have openness, curiosity and endless appreciation for all of
life.

Join this live event tonight! (Wednesday, November 28th 7 PM EST)
OR register even if you can't make it and get the recording
mailed directly to your home.

Here are the details and the place for you to register:

====================================
2. Essential Oil Tip: Immupower
====================================

I would not be without this essential oil blend.

To keep yourself well and your immune system high, or to help the
healing of an infectious process in the body, use this blend on a
daily basis by rubbing it on your feet at night before retiring.

I like to place drops on my feet and rub the bottoms of my feet
together - and then put on socks or little footies and wear them
to bed.

Immupower is an amazing blend of:

Hyssop
Mountain savory
Cistus
Ravensara
Frankincense
Oregano
Clove
Cumin
Idaho tansy

I call this blend "The Big Gun"

3. Success Tip: Arnold Schwarzenegger
=======================================

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your
strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to
surrender, that is strength.

=================================================
4. Recipe of the Week: A Favored Macrobiotic Dish
Wild Rice with Pecans & Shiitake-Onion Topping
=================================================

1 cup wild rice
2 - 2 1/2 cups filtered or spring water
1 Tbs. sesame oil
1/4 - 1/3 tsp. sea-salt
1/2 cup roasted pecans

Sauce:
1 cup minced onion
1 cup fresh shiitake, diced
1 1/2 cups water (approximately)
2 tsp. tamari

--Dice an onion and water fry in approximately 1 1/2 cups water
until onion becomes clear.
--Add diced shiitake and stir. Make sure there is at least 1 cup
of water remaining to cook the mushrooms. Cook for 3 to
5 minutes.
--Add in 2 tsp. tamari and remove from heat. Put aside.

Wild Rice with Pecans:
--Oven roast or dry pan-roast chopped pecans until browned and
fragrant. Put aside.
--Rinse wild rice in a colander under cold running water. Allow
to drain.
--Place water and salt in a heavy saucepan over high heat and
bring to a boil.
--Add rice when the water boils and lower to a simmer.
--Simmer rice for approximately 40 minutes. The kernels will
usually split open.
--Add the roasted pecans and allow to steam with the cover on for
another 10 minutes.
--Add shiitake-onion topping and mix. Optional: Add fine chopped
parsley as a garnish.

=========================================
5. HSL's Joke or Cute Quote of the Week
=========================================

This is an example of what the Great Life Diet is NOT. . .
. . .and the result!

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and
populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green
and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman
would live long and healthy lives.

Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's Ice
Cream and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, "You want
chocolate with that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and
as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10
pounds. And Satan smiled.

And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the
figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white
flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them.
And Woman went from size 6 to size 14.

So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." And Satan presented
Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on
the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the
repast.

God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and
olive oil in which to cook them." And Satan brought forth deep
fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own
platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went
through the roof.

God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it "Angel Food
Cake," and said, "It is good." Satan then created chocolate cake
and named it "Devil's Food."

God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might
lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote
control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And
Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light
and gained pounds.

Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and
brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin
and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And
Man gained pounds.

God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories
and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and
its 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with
that?" And Man replied, "Yes! And super size them!" And Satan
said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest.

God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.

Then Satan created HMOs.

====================================
1. Gratitude Can Improve Your Life
====================================

This is so easy its almost ridiculous.

By simply focusing on what it is we are grateful for we can
significantly improve our lives.

Most people don't even think about this, let alone apply it.
Why is that? Probably because it is so easy and it doesn't cost
a thing!

Thinking grateful thoughts can:

--Diminish negative thinking

A negative thought cannot reside in the same mental space a
positive thought resides. Grateful thoughts are positive
thoughts.

Initially it might feel like an effort to consciously control
what you are thinking, but after awhile it becomes a natural
habit.

--Attracts what you want

Grateful positive thoughts set up a vibrational field that works
with the Law of Attraction, where like attracts like.

If this is something hard to grasp, just try it. Have some fun
and give it a try for the fun of it - and watch it really work!

--Help you heal

Gratitude is a step toward forgiveness, and forgiveness helps you
heal.

Being grateful for adversities, and forgiving those who have hurt
you is the most powerful way to heal your life

--Make you happy

Feeling grateful for so many little things (along with the big
things) that are part of every day life is a most empowering
practice.

The continuous practice of feeling grateful results very
naturally in an elevation of mood and happiness

--Improves health

Gratefulness brings up one's vibration, and the more vibration
and vital force in the body/energy field ~ the greater the level
of health (see next article on a study done on gratitude and
health)

2. Gratitude is Good Medicine
=============================

Researchers from UC Davis and the Mississippi University for
Women studied a group of organ transplant patients who were
taking immunosuppressant drugs.

They found that the best medicine for the patients was gratitude.

Twelve females and four males who were organ transplant
recipients were examined. They were split into two groups:

--those who daily wrote down medication side effects

--those who daily wrote down five things they were grateful for

After 21 days a post-test questionnaire was given (pre-testing
was done by a questionnaire as well).

It was found that there was an increase in well-being rose in the
group that kept a "gratitude journal".

=======================================
3. Do The Gratitude Dance - Watch How!
=======================================

Before you watch me and my doggie Prin do the Gratitude Dance for
you - you MUST watch this 2 minute video which is popular on You
Tube.

This dance is the latest craze and YOU can do it too!

The You Tube video will be fun to watch with your family and
friends and do it on Thanksgiving Day after you eat and you feel
stuffed.

6. Success Tip: Gratitude, The Mark of a Noble Soul
=====================================================

"Gratitude is a mark of a noble soul and a refined character. We
like to be around those who are grateful. They tend to brighten
all around them. They make others feel better about themselves.
They tend to be more humble, more joyful, more likable....

If we only look around us, there are a thousand reasons for us
not to be happy, and it is simplicity itself to blame our
unhappiness on the things we lack in life. It doesn't take any
talent at all to find them. The problem is, the more we focus on
the things we don't have, the more unhappy and more resentful we
become."

(Joseph B. Wirthlin, "'Live in Thanksgiving Daily'"
Ensign, Sep 2001, 6.)

===========================================
7.Recipe of the Week: Grateful Gravy
===========================================

Remove the turkey from the roasting pan and set onto a platter.
Cover the turkey tightly with aluminum foil and set aside until
you're ready to eat.

Place the roasting pan onto the stove top over medium heat. Add 2
cups of water into the pan and stir about 5 minutes or until the
drippings and browned bits from bottom dissolve.

Place a strainer over a fat separator cup or bowl. Pour pan
drippings through strainer. Add enough liquid stock to make 4
cups total.

To remove fat from drippings, add several ice cubes to the liquid
and place stock into freezer for 10 minutes. If you're using a
fat separator cup, pour off stock into a saucepan. If you're
using a bowl, remove hardened fat with spoon and place stock into
a saucepan. Expect to have about 4 cups of liquid. Place the
saucepan onto the stove top over medium heat.

Place saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Add thyme
and sage to the simmering stock. Continue to simmer until the
stock is reduced by 1/4, or until about 3 cups of stock remain.

Pour milk into a small bowl. Add cornstarch and stir to mix
evenly. Slowly pour milk mixture into the simmering stock,
stirring slowly. Bring sauce to a boil and continue to stir until
stock thickens and has a nice shine, about 3 to 5 minutes.

Pour gravy into warmed gravy boat and serve with turkey.

8. HSL's Joke or Cute Quote of the Week
=========================================

May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious,
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

========================================
1. Seven Suggestions for Sinus Sufferers
========================================

Suffering from sinus problems stinks.

The worst part is the headache that won't go away.

Although you like to do things naturally you find
yourself so uncomfortable that you run to the nearest
Rite-Aid or Eckerd Drugs (you don't have to run too far,
they are on every other block) to buy over the
counter (OTC) meds just to get some relief.

Your headache feels only slightly better, the side effects
of the OTC meds make you feel sick in a different way and you
wonder if it was worth it.

You consider breaking down and going to the doctor who will
probably give you an antibiotic that will rip out your entire
terrain of good bacteria that is working hard to fight an infection.

Then you counteract the effects of the antibiotics by popping
acidophilus pills and eating gobs of plain yogurt.

Your stomach is upset and again you wonder if it was worth it.

All of this while living your very busy life and you find
yourself saying "how did I even get through this day?"

"I wish there is something that I can do so I don't feel so bad
and have to get to the point of actually considering putting
chemicals in my body."

Can any of you relate to this scenario?

There is something - actually, some "things" - that you can do on
your own naturally to stop the sinus suffering as well as prevent it.

Here are my "Seven Suggestions for Sinus Sufferers" ~

If you do these things individually they can be very helpful. If
you do them all simultaneously they are sure to help.

--Eliminate Causative Foods. . .

. . .these are most often sugar, refined carbs, dairy (especially
aged cheeses), and alcohol. Want to know the worst combo? Wine
eaten with aged cheese and a sugary desert!

--Use a Neti Pot for Nasal Irrigation. . .

. . .this is a great way to give a little bath to the mucous
membranes of the sinuses. Sinuses are dark moist environments
made up of mucous membranes that can be a breeding ground
for unwanted microbes. When there is an overgrowth of these
germs, sinus problems and infections ensue.

Here is a "how-to" video on the use of a neti pot:
http://tinyurl.com/2a6avu

--Humidify OR Dehumidify Your Environment. . .

. . .if you live in a dry environment and need more moisture,
humidify your living space - and if humid and damp - which can
breed fungus and mold, dehumidify.

--Get Rid of Mold in Your Environment. . .

. . .with the best product that has been researched and
scientifically proven to be naturally effective against
mold - Thieves Essential oil. Diffuse it.

Here are FAQ about mold from the CDC: http://tinyurl.com/39etyy
Use the info to help identify mold (not their suggestions of
treatment which would include chlorine bleach - learn why here:
http://tinyurl.com/2oo6yf

--Keep Your House Free from Dust. . .

. . .this isn't about running around dusting all of the time.
It's about taking measures to create an ongoing dust-free
environment. Here are some tips from the National Institute of
Allergy and Infectious Diseases from the National Institute of
Health: http://tinyurl.com/2pxh85

Diffusing your essential oils can help minimize particles and
dust along with killing unwanted microbes in your environment

--Inhale Essential Oils. . .

. . .the absolute best way to get rid of those pathogenic
microbes (aka "the bad bugs"), that hang out in your nasal
passages and sinuses. Doing this in conjunction with the Neti
Pot is powerful! Great oils to use are peppermint, ravensara, RC,
and Raven (YL blends). (Use only therapeutic grade oils! YLEO!)

--Cleanse Your Colon. . .

. . .this will amaze you. When I was offering Colon Hydrotherapy
at my Wellness Center this is the one benefit that was evident
among just about everyone - sinus drainage and breathing easier.

The first noticeable benefit of mechanical colon cleansing (vs.
nutritional by mouth) was sinuses draining.

For those of you who have sinus problems, here is the important
question to answer (and I can pose this to you as a nurse and a
certified colon therapist) - are you constipated?

People that have sinus problems are frequently dealing with
constipation. If you are curious as to that connection, here are
two reasons why:

--in Chinese Medicine breathing mechanisms and the colon go
together (Lung and Large Intestine share the same meridian)

--Bernard Jensen (nutritionally oriented chiropractor who
authored many books, and a proponent of colonics) taught that
there were reflex points in the large intestine that related to
the sinuses.

Don't want to do the mechanical colon cleanse (colonic or home
enema)? I think the Cleansing Trio is a great cleanse from Young
Living.

====================================================
2. Essential Oil Tip: The Secret for Sinuses
====================================================

Learn about using this oil and don't let it be a secret any
longer!

The YL essential oil blend of Raven is wonderful for sinuses.

Inhale, diffuse, wear.

For more info or to order contact your Young Living
distributor or go to: http://tinyurl.com/aenfp

====================================
3. Success Tip: Ralph Waldo Emerson
====================================

"To know even one life has breathed easier because you have
lived - that is to have succeeded."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

=============================================
4. Recipe of the Week: Supertonic Sinus Clear
=============================================

Jalepeno Peppers

Yellow Onion

Ginger Root

Horseradish Root

Garlic Bulb

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

--Chop up equal amounts of the first 5 ingredients and put in
blender

--Cover with enough apple cider vinegar to blend

--Blend for 20 seconds

--Take a teaspoon at a time

=========================================
5. HSL's Joke or Cute Quote of the Week
=========================================

Our kids grew up with extreme sinus troubles.

Without watching their bank accounts, they sinus a check for this
and sinus a check for that!

==============================
1. Can Hair Loss Be Reversed?
==============================

This is an age old question.

And the answer remains, as it well should, "depending on the
cause".

The known causes of hair loss that we typically hear about are:

--Genetics
--Autoimmunce disorders
--Hormonal Changes
--Emotional Stress
--Medications like chemotherapy
--Nutritional deficiencies (protein, iron, zinc)

From a holistic nutritional perspective there are other dietary
factors that can affect hair loss such as a diet high in sugars
and grains - and low in the good fats.

According to Dr. Mercola (www.mercola.com), sugars and grains
will increase insulin levels which have been associated with hair
loss.

I always like to hear Mercola's take on certain things (he has a
huge website on alternative medicine and natural health).

He doesn't buy into the belief that genetics is a main cause. He
says "While it is clear genetics are involved, the expression of
the genetic predisposition is largely environmentally induced."

So Mercola is basically saying we should look at our environment
as a reason why this is happening and do what we can to prevent
it. Environment here includes the food one eats - as well as
physical surroundings.

Mercola, who is dealing with hair loss himself, states he
firmly believes that if he were to have done these three things
he would not have lost his hair:

--Eliminate grains and sugars (espec. in childhood diet)
--Increase intake of good fats
--Increase antioxidants

(read more on this from Mercola himself:
http://tinyurl.com/2qz78s )

When we look at the causes to hair loss one should ask "what can
be done naturally to prevent or treat these issues?"

The answer is to find ways to create balance and harmony in
bodily systems, and much of that is environmental like diet and
controlling stress levels.

One natural approach that has shown positive results has been
using an essential oil protocol.

A study in the Archives of Dermatology (1998; 134:1349-1352)
found that certain essential oils promoted new hair growth safely
and effectively for alopecia (hair loss).

Scottish researchers performed the study and the oils that were
used were:

--Thyme
--Rosemary
--Lavender
--Cedarwood

The participants in this study massaged these combined essential
oils in their scalps every day. The control group used plain
jojoba and grapeseed oil.

After seven months of treatment, 44% of the patients using the
essential oils showed significant improvement in hair growth.
Interestingly, the group using carrier oils showed 15%
improvement. It should be noted here that the alopecia was a
temporary form of hair loss (alopecia areata).

Researchers concluded that not only did the aromatherapy work, it
was also far safer than traditional alopecia treatments including
conventional steroids.

=================================================
2. Essential Oil Tip: Hair Loss Prevention Blend
=================================================

This is one of a few protocols that are out there, it comes from

3. Success Tip: Thinning Hair Tip for Women
============================================

Acidophilus!

This is from New Choices In Natural Healing by Prevention
Magazine:

For women, thinning hair or hair loss can be a sign of a problem
in the gastrointestinal tract, says Michael A. Klaper, M.D., a
nutritional medicine specialist in Pompano Beach, Florida, and
director of the Institute of Nutritional Education and Research,
an organization based in Manhattan Beach, California, that
teaches doctors about nutrition and its relationship to disease.

"Occasionally, it's a sign of insufficient stomach acids or that
she's not absorbing protein, zinc and other nutrients," he says.
"If she takes acidophilus after meals for a month or so, that
often helps." Dr. Klaper recommends nondairy powdered
acidophilus, available in most health food stores. He says to
take two tablets between meals (four to six tablets per day) for
at least two months.

(I personally think the Young Living's Life 5 would be great for
this - it's powdered in a capsule form!)

4.Recipe of the Week: Restoration Root Tea
===========================================

Burdock Root promotes hair growth and reduces hair from falling
out. Here is a great "restoration root tea" that has burdock in
it along with other nourishing roots. These roots can strengthen
hair roots.

You can get these roots at your health food stores or your local
Asian Market.

Restoration Root Tea

1 cup dried Burdock root

1 cup dried Astragalus root

¼ cup dried Ginger root

¼ cup Ginseng root

--Mix dried roots together and store in a glass jar.

--To make tea, use ½ cup mixture to 1 quart water

--Simmer roots gently in water for 20-30 minutes.

--Add 2 Tbsp honey, or some agave if desired.

--Pour into a quart jar, roots and all. Let sit several hours or
overnight.

--Store in refrigerator for up to 3 days. Drink hot or cold, 1-2
cups per day.

1. Pumpkin Seed Magic
======================

Pumpkin Seeds, aka Cucurbit Seeds, are so full of nutrients and
can be helpful to so many things, that some might call them
magical.

Pumpkin seeds have protein, fiber, iron, copper, magnesium,
manganese, and phosphorous, as well as the amino acids arginine
and glutamic acid. They also contain calcium, potassium, zinc,
selenium, folate, and niacin. And they are also a source of
linolenic acid (which is believed to help prevent hardening of
the arteries).

Here are some of the things that munching on a small handful of
seeds can help with:

--Calm an irritated and overactive bladder occasionally
associated with bedwetting (Germany's Commission E has approved
using pumpkin seeds for bedwetting and other bladder problems)

--Get rid of intestinal parasites (the ingredient cucurbit in the
seeds is believed to paralyze the worms over time forcing them to
lose their grip and get expelled from the body)

--Help with symptoms of prostate enlargement (the use of these
seeds for this problem is traced back to Native American
healers).

A clinical trial done using pumpkin seeds for BPH
(Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy) showed improvements in symptoms
such as post-void dribbling, weak urine flow, and time spent
urinating in many of the participants. Fifty-three men with BPH
took part in this three-month, double blind study completed in
1990.

The nutrients and benefits from pumpkin seeds are available in
many natural forms, such as:

--The seed itself

--Pumpkin seed oil

--Dried herb

--Tea

Buy the seeds in health food stores either in the shell or
already shelled. And you can get them raw or roasted.
The oil is wonderful; we get ours from Donna Gates (author "Body
Ecology Diet").

Like most oils, it goes rancid so you do need to keep it
refrigerated.

Here's a great recipe for getting rid of those parasites and
worms:

--Make an emulsion by grinding up the seeds, mixing them with
some sugar (or honey) and some milk (or water),

--Sip this mixture in three daily doses, ingesting a total of
about 2 ounces of the emulsion.

OR

--Make a tea with the ground seeds by infusing them in hot water;
--Allow the brew to cool slightly before straining and sipping.
--Don't take more than 16 ounces at a time.

Here's a tip for men who are interested in good prostate health-
preventing enlargement, or even helping your treatment along:

--Chew a handful of these seeds every day!

Make them at home yourself!

From your own fresh pumpkins, harvest the seeds yourself or from
other squash as well. Then roast them slowly on an oiled baking
sheet in a 250 degree oven until crisp.

2. Halloween and Your Dog
===========================

My little guy (Home Spa Doggie "Prin") says "Don't dress me up!
not on Halloween, not ever!"

He means it, and he's not just trying to be cool either.

Its confusing to me though, because he came with a full wardrobe!

Last year I adopted this four year old little lasa from a hospice
- his mom was dying of ovarian cancer and he was on his way to
orphan hood.

He came with a yellow rain coat with hood, lambs wool and suede
jacket, blue denim vest - soooo cute! But as soon as I put one
of these on him - klonk! He went right down lying on the floor -
and refused to move.

So I fast learned this little guy does not like clothing at all!

We decided he is cute enough without the clothes. But I can't
resist a holiday neck piece, which he doesn't mind.

So today, on Halloween, Prin is wearing a pumpkin bandana around
his neck. If I get a chance, I'll send you some photos!

Meanwhile, here are some doggie Halloween Tips:

--Choose your costumes carefully

Avoid toxic materials - like plastics, especially if they
were to chew them
No obstructing vision

--No candy

Chocolate, raisins, artificial sweeteners can be deadly
Regular sugar is just as bad for dogs as people

--If they are nervous, leave them home

If your dog gets stressed easily from people and other
pets, imagine people and other dogs dressed like monsters
walking in packs (like they usually do on Halloween).

Even when the Trick or Treaters are coming to the door,
this can be stressful.

Remember to use your natural calming strategies like
Peace and Calming essential oil - a little on their paws
or on their ears.

=======================================
3. Essential Oil Tip: White Angelica
=======================================

White Angelica - The Invisible Coat of Protection

If you live with the awareness that your energy field needs to be
protected from the daily stuff of the visible and invisible
worlds - this is the essential oil blend for you!

According to the Essential Desk Reference, White Angelica
neutralizes negative energy and gives a feeling of protection and
security.

Apply to shoulders or pulse point areas.

For more info or to order contact your Young Living
distributor or go to: http://tinyurl.com/aenfp

This is one of my favorites! I love the protection aspect, but I
also just love the smell. This oil blend has replaced all of my
perfume! Just make sure you don't expose the skin to the sun where
you applied this oil.

4. Success Tip: What makes us afraid.. .

Whatever makes us afraid, has the potential,
if, we can try to truly understand it, to make
us wise.

6. Recipe of the Week: Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
========================================

How to Roast Fresh Pumpkin Seeds

--Open the Belly of the Pumpkin.

--Rinse pumpkin seeds under cold water and pick out the pulp and
strings. (This is easiest before the pulp has dried.)

--Place the pumpkin seeds in a single layer on an oiled baking
sheet, stirring to coat.

--If you prefer, omit the oil and coat with non-stick cooking
spray.

--Sprinkle with salt and bake at 325 degrees F until toasted,
about 25 minutes, checking and stirring after 10 minutes.

--Let cool and store in an air-tight container.

7. HSL's Joke or Cute Quote of the Week
=========================================

Ten Ways You Know You Are Too Old To Trick or Treat

10. You get winded from just knocking on the door.

9. You have to have another kid chew the candy for you.

8. You ask for high fiber candy only.

7. When someone drops a candy in your bag, you lose your
balance and fall over.

6. People say: "Great Boris Karloff Mask", and you're not
wearing a mask

5. When the door opens you yell, "Trick or . . ." and you can't
remember the rest.

4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining
orders

3. You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge
your hairpiece

2. You're the only Spider Man in the neighborhood with a
walker.

And the number one reason you are too old to Trick Or Treat:

1. You keep having to go home to pee.
