1. Spas for Kids, Tweens, and Teens
=====================================
The hottest new spa trend are spa experiences for Generation Y -those age 5 to 20. And the 'Kid Capital of the World' in OrlandoFlorida is the place to be to jump on the offerings.
The Ritz Carlton Spa, Orlando Grand Lakes has a menu of servicesfor kids and teens called 'Adventures and Treatments'. This menuincludes:
--The Ritz Kids Cleansing Facial--The Ritz Teen Facial--A Facial Fit for a Princess--The Ritz Kids Massage--Fizzing Manicure--Fizzing Pedicure
Nickelodeon has a Kids Spa and offers the 'My First' series:
--My First Manicure--My First Pedicure--My First Facial--My First Massage
Another spa on top of the future market of the youth is PinehurstResort in Pinehurst North Carolina. Their kid friendly servicesinclude:
--A 20 minute back and shoulder massage--The Twinkle Toes Pedicure--The Fancy Fingers Manicure
These aren't for girls only. Boys can do a Teen Tune-Up in afitness training session with introductions to lifting weights,cardiovascular care, and other basic workouts. Parents mustaccompany their children (when under 16) in treatment rooms.
Home parties and day spa events are ways for the young ones toaccess the spa experience without traveling to destination spas.Having a 'Princess Party' for young girls (as young as 5 yearsold) that include up-dos, glitter, and jewels can groom them forfancier and more expensive services in the future.
Is this too much too soon? Some worry that this is puttingtoo much early emphasize on looks rather than performance.So balance it out with a rock climbing experience. Buildingstrength and beauty together are healthy lessons.
Many spa owners and operators don't see this as an opportunity torecruit a new spa client as much as a educational opportunity tomake a difference in a young life. Acne in teens can be treatedwith specific skin products and alot of education on the care ofthe skin. Relaxation services that help redue anxiety can bereflected in the skin.
Another educational focus is the dangers of sun exposure on youngskin. Children receive between 50% and 80% of their lifetime sunexposure before the age of 18 according to http://kidshealth.org.
Some ideas for spa fun at home include avocado masks on the face,oatmeal baths, make-up experimentation, dress-up, tea parties,and temporaty tattoo fun too!

2. Are You A NutraSweet Junkie?
=================================
Do you know that it is a poison?
Sorry about the bad news, guys.
Aspartame, which is the sweetener in Equal, Nutrasweet and azillion other sugar-free products is a known neurotoxin. Thatmeans that it is a toxic substance that can affect the nervoussystem. It can also affect other systems in the body-mind. Itis suspected as a causative factor in seizures, migraines,Parkinson's disease, and MS.
Here are some symptoms attributed to Aspartame that weresubmitted to the FDA from Health and Human Services:
headaches, dizziness, mood change, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea,vision changes, fatigue, weakness, memory loss, sleepdifficulties, hives, itching

Here's a 'Re-Oxygenation Regimen' (with Young Living oils) thatcan be helpful for over-exposure to carbon monoxide, orinhalation of any toxins:
--Massage Valor on the bottom of feet--Diffuse Purification--Rub 2 - 4 drops of Purification on feet--Apply Purification on the spine and back, Raindrop style--Massage 2 - 4 drops of RC, Purification, Inspiration, or SacredMountain on feet and massage on the lung reflex points

1. Beauty and The Belly
=========================
I am amazed that more people don't connect their face to theirfood.
They wake up and see a little more puffiness around their eyes,their nose might look larger than yesterday with a bit lessdefinition in their cheekbones, and they don't ask themselves:
'Did those sun dried tomatoes, prosciutto and provolone on mysalad last night do this?' or 'What about that microwaved pre-packaged pasta I had for lunch?' 'Did I drink enough wateryesterday?' (FYI - the more water you drink, the less water youretain) or 'did that diet soda and anchovy pizza go to myface?'
They just unhappily accept these changes as part of the agingprocess and something they can't control. They might consider afew nips and tucks for the future, but other than that they feelas if there is nothing they can do.
Well there is something that can be done and it is as simple aspaying attention to what goes in and out of your belly.
For example, convenience and processed foods, and foods withpreservatives, often make the body work harder at digestion,assimilation, and elimination. Consequently, that difficultyshows up in the body and on the skin.
Processed foods are often pre-packaged in boxes, cans, and evenfrozen. Here are a few criticisms about these foods:
--Typically they are manufactured from almost inedibleagricultural products
--They are high in fat and calorie contents
--They are the real culprit behind obesity
--They are often Genetically Modified (GMO)
--Sometimes an irradiation process is used
--Preservatives are almost always used
The reason these types of foods can affect your face is becausemore often than not your body identifies these types of foods asa foreign invader, or allergen (to which the body reactsallergically). Then, the body's immune system is activated tofight this invader or allergen. One of the actions of the immunesystem is inflammation and therefore puffiness can occur.
If there is a sluggish elimination system and the body can't getrid of this foreign stuff easily, then more puffiness can occur!
I want to point out here that although I'm writing specificallyabout how these foods affect our looks, I don't want to minimizetheir negative effects on the entire body (that's for anotherarticle). But I will say here is that this inflammation happensthroughout the body affecting joints too(arthritis is related to many foods that are eaten and thecondition of the digestive system).
The organs that are involved in elimination are the skin (yes,that's an organ - its the largest organ in the body), lungs,kidneys, liver, colon, and the lymphatic system. When thecolon is sluggish the other organs of elimination can beaffected resulting in things like skin rashes, coughs, andconstipation.
The lymphatic system is a circulatory system whose primaryfunction is to help cleanse the body of toxins. There arevessels and glands that run throughout the body - including theface and the colon. (Check here to learn where these are locatedin the head and face http://tinyurl.com/qv6jt).
When the colon is sluggish, the lymph can get sluggish, andconsequently this can show up in your face. The areas around theeyes and the face have many lymph vessels. Therefore,proper elimination is very important in minimizing facialpuffiness!
As a colon therapist, I know of several ways to help a sluggishcolon. There are mechanical ways (colonics, enemas, colemaboards) and there are nutritional ways. Both approaches can beeffective. I just learned about a new product that Young Livinghas developed and I am very excited about it. It is a cleansingproduct and a nutritional superfood energizer that tastesdelicious. It is called 'Balance Complete'.
Balance Complete has balanced fiber that is really important ina cleansing product. Balanced fiber includes both soluble andinsoluble fiber and accomplishes two things:
--Absorbs toxins
--Cleanses and scrubs the colon walls as it moves through theintestines
Along with balanced fiber this product has essentialglyconutrients, essential fats, key antioxidants, protein fromvery clean whey out of New Zealand, digestive enzymes, and lotsmore!
Here are the some of the actions of this product:
--Toxin and fat elimination
--Enhances nutrient absorption
--Supports cholesterol levels
--Maintains normal blood sugar
--Nurtures probiotics and colon health
--Eases gas and bloating
--Curbs food craving
Its a great meal replacement for people who are looking to take offpounds, nourish themselves, and cleanse at the same time.
And of course, it has the highest grade essential oils in it.Essential oils help to drive nutrients into the cells as well asbalance the digestive system.
Mix 2 scoops in 8 ounces of water. It's delicious.

2. Are You a Caregiver? This Is For You. . .
=============================================
If you are helping a family member or friend with their needs insome way, shape, or form, then you are considered to be acaregiver.
A caregiver is defined as anyone who provides help or care (oftenunpaid) to anyone in the household or any relative, whether ornot the relative lives with the caregiver. This help includespersonal needs, meals, household chores, shopping, paperwork,medication, getting around, or visiting regularly to see how thecare receiver is doing.
'More than 50 million people provide care for a chronically ill,disabled or aged family member or friend during any given year'(Source: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, InformalCaregiving: Compassion in Action. Washington, DC: 1998, andNational Family Caregivers Association, Random Sample Survey ofFamily Caregivers, Summer 2000, Unpublished)
If this is you, then you most likely have more stress or worrythan the average person, and may be taking more medicationsyourself than you were before.
The National Alliance for Caregiving say caregivers lives havebecome more difficult in a number of ways, such as:
--90% of caregivers have more stress or worry--69% of caregivers have less time spent with family and friends--51% of caregivers are now taking more medications--37% of caregivers have less time spent at work--10% of caregivers use of alcohol and prescription drugs morefrequently
(To read more: http://tinyurl.com/esa5u)
Many caregivers suffer from depression and often their own healthstarts to decline. Who's out there to help the caregivers?
This is nothing new to the nurse, holistic healer, orclergyperson - but they signed on for this professionally. Thevolunteer caregiver, the designated caregiver, and theprofessional caregiver all have to look out for their health too.
Healing Touch classes have been taught to Health CareProfessionals, clergy, and lay persons for over a decade now -all throughout the world. Many people come into the classes withthe intention of learning more caregiving skills. The end resultfor almost everyone in this program is that they find that they,the caregiver, receive tremendous benefit and feel that they nowhave a tool to take care of themselves AND their care receiver.
To learn more about the Healing Touch Program and to find a classnear you go to http://www.healingtouchprogram.

3. Essential Fatty Acids in Anti-Aging Medicine
=================================================
The European Masters in Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine aremeeting in Paris October 13 - 15. One topic on their agenda isthe importance of Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's)in Preventativeand Longevity Medicine http://tinyurl.com/ze7lj.
This is very affirming for those of us who are taking fish oiland flax oil supplements. The Europeans are always up on thebest in health and beauty.
The new 'Omega Blue' product that came on line at Young Living isa high quality fish oil (using non-molecular distillation torid the oil of mercury, heavy metals and other toxins). It's agreat combo of fish oil and high antioxidant essential oils.

===========================================
4. Essential Oil Tip: Cooling Hot Flashes
===========================================
Therapeutic grade peppermint oil is great for when you have a hotflash (power surge!). A drop or two rubbed on your hands andapplied to the back of your neck can cool you down instantly. Ifthesensation feels a bit burny on the skin add a little olive oilor a massage oil base.
To prevent the onslaught of hot flashes try some Endoflex(YLEO) to help balance the hormonal system. Rub a few drops ofthis oil under your ankles (reflex points for the female organs)every day.

1. One Way To Age Profitably
==============================
People don't seem to be retiring anymore. They either need tostay in the work force longer because they need the income, orthey still feel so vibrant that they just don't want to stopworking.
If they do 'officially' retire, many people look for either asecond career or to get involved with something that isfun, mentally stimulating, and creative. If this something canbe income producing, all the better.
With the internet age upon us as it is, there is opportunity toexplore any area that interests you. There isalso opportunity to contribute to cyberspace with your own areaof expertise.
I've been teaching classes in alternative and complementaryholistic therapies for years. The participants in these courseshave come from diverse backgrounds - from physicians toat-home moms. The excitement about this new emerging healing basedhealthcare is growing more rapidly than ever before.
In my recent classes, probably the past year or two, I havenoticed a trend. I have noticed the average age of theparticipants is increasing, with many nearing retirement age. I'mgetting the sense that there are more vibrant and optimisticpeople in their 60's and 70's today than ever before. It'sevident that a paradigm shift is really taking hold and these old'thought forms' of aging are really changing.
I think this is good news. I'll admit that I am an eternaloptimist, and sometimes I get so tired of hearing, reading, andeven writing about so many aging people with terrible diets,illnesses, and grim futures. Although this describes manyindividuals, there are many adults and elders with lots of goodlife to live, and great gifts to give.
I've also noticed that people are looking for more ways toincrease and maintain their vibrancy and they are interested inthings like:
--Creating or being part of a community of like minded people(whatever their minds are like!)
--Contributing to society and to the world
--Sharing the wisdom of their years
--Sharing their area of expertise
--Staying connected to life in many ways without the hassle oftravel
--Making an income while loving and controlling what they do
As you are reading this right now you are looking at the exactvehicle that can help to fulfill those goals. The internet.
It doesn't take a technologically oriented 'propeller-head' touse the internet to fulfill certain goals. If you know enough toopen and read this newsletter, you know enough (technologically)to help you do these things and more.
I am teaching a course in Internet Marketing. I am fascinatedwith the possibilities that are available to us and others on theinternet. Yes, you do have to sift through the less desirableinformation to get what you want - but there are ways to do that.There are also ways to package yourself and your information sothat the credible and professional person that you are will shinethrough.
I've had many people say to me 'I'm not a sales person, so Iwouldn't be interested in marketing'. Usually this type ofperson is in a service profession. I often reply with 'Marketingis not what you think it is, it's really not sales. It's whatyou and I as a nurse healers do for people all the time. It'sabout identifying a need and helping people to fulfill that need- with resources, products, information, or whatever you canoffer'.
If you are interested in learning more about this click on thislink: http://tinyurl.com/mg36z
Although the written information is geared toward the holistichealth professional, this information can apply to anyprofession or area of interest.
You don't have to travel anywhere to take this course (one of themany things I love about this work!). You only need a telephone.If you can sit in front of your computer during these classes itwould be helpful, but not necessary.
And you will get individualized attention which is why the classsize is very limited. If you want more info and tolearn how to register, go to: http://tinyurl.com/mg36z

2. The Secret to Manifesting Your Dreams
===========================================
Have you heard about the very popular DVD called 'The Secret'?
My guess is that 50% of you reading this newsletter sawthis video. Simple yet profound, it makes a great impact.
If you haven't seen this and want to learn a wise and ancientsecret, for making your dreams come true, you must see this.
How is it that so many people learned about this video in such ashort time period? Besides it being a high quality piece thatpeople loved and told their friends about, the makers of thisvideo utilized 'viral marketing' techniques on the internet.
It's an amazing way to get a message out to the world.

3. Feng Shui Abundance Trees
==============================
A feng shui abundance tree is an indoor plant used in order toattract prosperity and wealth into any space. Thistree's botanical name is Pachira, and its care requires theaverage sun light and watering that any other indoor plant wouldneed. Its height can reach to as much as seven feet while it canexpand sideways to be as much as three feet wide.
The shape of these plant's leaves represent the five mainelements of feng shui, wood, water, earth, fire and metal, andthis is what makes this tree so symbolic. When anelement is missing, or the elements in a space are not balanced,this tree would help by adding what is missing toharmonize the elements.
Since this tree bring or increase wealth, they areideal to place near a place where the moola is kept or near the cashregisters in businesses. Prosperity and wealth, as well aselements harmonization should come after placing this plant atthose spots. Any other place where wealth is needed canbe a good place for this tree as well.
This trees can also be strategically placed accordingto the house areas indicated by the bagua map. The bagua mapnorthwest corner corresponds to the prosperity area of life, andthis could be an ideal place for this tree to be.Since it brings prosperity, you can also help apply thisattracting factor to any other area of your life by placing thefeng shui tree at the house area which corresponds to it.
If you would like to have a feng shui tree but don't knowwhere to find it, there are many stores selling them online whichwould allow you to buy it through their catalogues. You wouldeasily find them by typing feng shui abundance tree into your searchengine, and they would allow you to see them in pictures as wellas provide you with details about it.
As you can see, these trees can have manydifferent applications as well as having decorative properties.They can also help you lighten a dark corner and improve the flowof chi. Whether you are thinking of buying an indoor plant foryourself or giving it as a present, these tree can bea great option.
