1. Are Women Like Santa Claus?
================================

Women work too hard at the holidays.

In a Santa Claus world they would work around the clock with as many little helpers as they could find, to many the dreams of everyone they know and love come true.

Women want to make their holiday seasons so perfect by having the perfectly decorated house, giving the perfect gifts, having the perfect dinner, the perfect jingle. . .and all of those other "perfects".

This creates tremendous stress and can put one on the road to the "Big Belly Club". Stress creates high cortisol levels in the body that put extra weight in the mid-section of the body wherethe "ho-ho-ho" jiggles the belly.

I wonder if that is Santa's problem? or is his big belly just from too many cookies and milk on December 24th?

Here are some tips on how to beat holiday stress and keep those cortisol levels down:

--Let go of expectations for the outcome of anything connected to the holiday and just enjoy the process as you go along each and every day

--Decide every day to do one thing good for yourself to feel better such as going to the gym even if you don't have time, taking that lavender bath, talking to your best friend on the phone, getting take out at your favorite restaurant

--Reflect on holiday's past and think of the wonderful times that stand out in your memories - you will most likely find that those wonderful memories weren't always about how perfect things looked, but more how good you felt inside

--Give where it's not expected of you - a local charity or a women's shelter

=================================
2. Easy To Make Home-Spa Gifts
=================================

The real meaning to holidays, the "giving of the self", shows up in the home made gift.

Here are three easy-to-make but very lush Home-Spa items that you can place your own signature on as the gift giver and personalize for the gift recipient.

They are:

--Bath Jelly
--Soap Balls (lavender or rosemary)
--Cream Perfume

You can make these with your favorite essential oils and other easy-to-get ingredients.
-------------------
Bath Jelly

You will need:

--One packet unflavored gelatin
--3/4 Cup water
--1/2 Cup bath gel base
--Your favorite essential oil
--Glass jar with lid (empty peanut butter jar) or other clear container
--Optional small plastic bath toy if for child

Directions:

--Empty the packet of gelatin into a mixing bowl. Set aside.
--Boil water
--Pour hot water into mixing bowl
--Mix with gelatin powder - allow to completely dissolve
--Very slowly stir in the bath gel base
--Add 6 to 8 drops of essential oil
--Mix all very gently and do not beat
--Pour into clear container
--Place small toy inside jar
--Refrigerate until it is set - approx 4 hours
--Place label on jar that has your designer name and directions on how to use which are:

Put 2 Tablespoons in palm - make loose fist and place under running bath water.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Soap Balls

You will need:

--2 bars unscented vegetable-based soap (or the equivalent inodds-and-ends)
--1/2 cup dried lavender blossoms or loose rosemary (fresh ordried)
--5 drops essential oil (lavender or rosemary)
--1/4 cup warm water

Directions:

--Grate soap (with cheese grater) into a large bowl
--Add the lavender blossoms or dried rosemary to the grated soap.
--Add essential oil to the soap mixture, combining thoroughly.
--Add the warm water and stir.
--Roll heaping tablespoons of the mix into balls.
--Place on a cookie sheet and allow to air-dry completely, which will take approximately 2 days.

------------------------------------------------------
Cream Perfume - Sacred Holiday Scent "Blend of the Three Kings"

You will need:

--2 tablespoons grated beeswax
--2 tablespoons sweet almond oil
--1 teaspoon total of essential oils

Directions:

--Melt beeswax in glass pan over boiling water or double boiler
--Add sweet almond oil and blend together thoroughly
--Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding essential oil
--Fill small clean, dry glass jars with the solid perfume.

Blend of the Three Kings
15 drops frankincense
6 drops myrrh
3 drops sandalwood

--If you want a firmer result add 1 tablespoon of distilled water.

==================================
3. "The Wardrobe of Atmosphere"
==================================

Granted, I like reading and writing about the use of essential oils in our everyday life. . . but when I came upon these words that described the importance of diffusing essential oils into our environment, I had to take pause. And I had to share them with you.

"Fragrance is the wardrobe of the atmosphere," says Gus Klein, of Garner Franklin Klein in Dallas. "It's sort of the final presentation for your home. You can have all kinds of nice things in your house, but the one thing constant is the air you're breathing."

What a beautiful way to describe the need to enhance our environment with essential oils - not to mention how it also eliminates pathogenic viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

This month for the Holiday Season, the Young Living Essential Oil diffuser has three f.r.e.e. oils that come with it. They are the blends of Christmas Spirit, Evergreen Essence, and Citrus Fresh.

To order a diffuser from Young Living see your Young Living distributor or go to Young Living's Website

=======================================
4. Essential Oil Tip: Sinus Congestion
=======================================

Place a few drops of one of the following therapeutic essential oils in your palm, rub your hands together lightly, cup your hands together over your nose and take an inhalation:

--Peppermint
--RC (Young Living)
--Raven (Young Living)
--Eucalyptus Radiata

Order your oils from your Young Livingdistributor or by going to http://tinyurl.com/aenfp

===============================
5. Success Tip: Leo Buscaglia
===============================

Only when we give joyfully, without hesitation or thought of gain, can we truly know what love means.

==============================================
6.Recipe of the Week: Hot Spiced Pineapple Tea
==============================================

Garnish with cinnamon sticks

2 cups water
2 cups pineapple juice
1 teaspoon whole cloves
2 sticks cinnamon
1 lemon, halved and sliced

Heat water and pineapple juice in a sauce pan until it boils. Add cloves, cinnamon, and lemon and lower heat. Simmer 10 minutes over medium heat. Remove cloves and cinnamon and serve hot.

Why Women Would Love Being Santa Claus

--You would never be expected to make the coffee
--There would be no more early morning decisions about what to wear to the office
--You could grow a gut the size of Guam and consider it a job requirement
--Buy one big black belt and you'd be accessorized for life
--There would be no reason to have your colors done
--Everyone would be extremely nice to you, even if you weren't
--Should people suggest your belly jiggled...when you laughed...like a bowlful of jelly, you could hit them with your purse
--You would always work in sensible footwear
--There would be no need to play office politics; a hearty ho-ho-ho would remind everyone who's boss
--You wouldn't need to buy an expensive briefcase
--No one would dare ask for a ride to work
--You would never again have to wear pantyhose or worry about your slip showing
--No more trips to the vending machine...you'd just snack on milk and cookies all day
--You would never be asked to take an early retirement package
--Juggling work and family would be a breeze because your children would adore you; even your teen-agers would want to sit in your lap
--You would be guaranteed the best chair in the office
--Age discrimination wouldn't be an issue
--You would never grab the wrong coat on your way out the door
--No one would ask to see your job description
--Your co-workers would be on notice that they'd better not pout

1. Have a Holiday Home-Spa Party
=================================
Here's a unique way to deliver your holiday gifts to your friends, family, clients, or employees - turn your Holiday Party into a Home-Spa Party! Rather than give that gift certificate for the spa visit to all the people on your list (which can really add up), bring the spa to all of them in one night. You can save a fortune, give them the gift they want, and network your entire community together as well. You can even promote yourself if you market a wellness product or offer your own services. This can be a real win-win situation.

Here are some tips on how to have a Holiday Home-Spa Party:
--Pick a date in December in the middle of the week and schedule it for the evening. Another good time is during the week between Christmas and New Years.
--Start it at 5 or 6 PM as the work day is just finishing
--Have lite healthy snacks, but plenty of them. Have one dish that is carb rich for the real hungry. This gives your group the option to eat light or make it their dinner.
--Hire your favorite massage therapist, foot reflexologist, energy healer, astrologer, and personal coach. Choose one or two of these vendors - or have all of them.
--Schedule your vendors to offer 10 - 20 minute sessions (depending on the number of people you have).
--Pay them for the evening with the understanding that this party is a way to promote themselves, so the fees should be minimal.
--Set up stations in your home or office for each vendor
--Allow them to have their business cards displayed at their station.
--If you market, sell, or distribute a health and wellness product - have it featured at the stations or have your vendors use it in their services.
--Give a pair of fluffy slippers to everyone who comes, so they can slip off their shoes immediately upon arriving.
--Give a gift bag with small spa items like a pumice stone for feet, nail files, a small bottle of lotion, bath gel or essential oil.
--If your guests can't make the date or have to cancel - send them the gift bag with the slippers in the mail. And make sure you get at least one of those services yourself at the party!
============================================
2. How the Super-Rich Shop for the Holidays
============================================
First of all they don't drive to the mall. Actually, they don't even ride in a chauffeured limo. They take a private jet to shop. Elite Traveler's magazine took a survey to find this out (Elite Traveler defines the "super-rich" as having a household net worth more than $10 million). They will spend 25% more on holiday purchases this year than last year which is 2063% more than their mass affluent counterparts (Elite Traveler defines "mass affluent" as having a household net worth between $1 million and $9.9 million). One of the things they are spending their money on this year are in-home spas! They will spend $21,700 on in-home spa expenditures and $27,800 on out-of-home spa experiences.

3. The 30 Second Commute to Work
==================================
That's my commute. 30 Seconds. From my bedroom to my office in my home. And I love it. It took me a few months to love it. I had so many temptations to cook, and clean, and do the laundry instead of work. The hardest part has been the boundaries for myself. The main reason I love it is because I can fulfill my goals of touching lives all around the globe. Through the internet and the telephone I am able to empower people with information to keep themselves and their families healthy.

I was grateful to learn the process of running teleseminars last year. Many of you have been on my teleseminars and I'm sure you'll agree - its a great way to learn. My mentor in the teleseminar trainings, Alex Mandossian, is offering a training in the next month. I'm listing this in my newsletter because I know many of you are helpers to the world in some way, and you might want to use this model like I do - to get your messages out there. His classes are very expensive, but he has allowed me to give VIP privileges to my readers and a very large discount.

There is a call this Thursday night, December 7th, in teleseminar fashion. It is $99. As a Home Spa Lady reader and VIP you can get this class for only $20 by using the VIP Code 3964. If you want to learn more about this, click on this link: Learn More.

If you want to get a glimpse of Alex, and see him on a 3 minute and 27 second video-go to: Check Out Alex!

I hope to see you there!
=====================================================
4. Essential Oil Tip: Diffuse the Scent of Christmas =====================================================
One of my favorite ways to decorate for the holidays is by diffusing the scent of Christmas throughout my home. There are many ways to diffuse. It can be as simple as placing essential oils on a tissue and tucking the tissue behind cushions in your furniture. You could also dowse yourself with oils and be a walking diffuser. Or, you can diffuse essential oils in a cold air diffuser. The latter is the better. It is imperative that a cold air diffuser be used, and not something that applies heat to your oil (i.e. candles or lightbulbs). Heat destroys the therapeutic value of your essential oil.

The Young Living blend called "Christmas Spirit" is a blend ofthe following oils:
--Orange (Citrus aurantium)
--Cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum verum)
--Spruce (Piicea mariana)

It is one of the best ways to sprinkle Christmas all throughout your home!Order your oils from your Young Living distributor or by going to Young Living's Website
===============================
5. Success Tip: Woody Allen
===============================
"Eighty percent of success is showing up."
=============================================
7.Recipe of the Week: Healthy Party Punch
============================================
This non-alcoholic party punch is healthy and delicious! It is also naturally sweetened with fruit juices and no refined sugars.

Ingredients:
--Strawberry-Mango Juice (from Trader Joe's)
--2 Quarts--Pelligrino Water ( 1 1/2 large bottles) or Perrier
--Fruit Cocktail in natural juices
--Ningxia Red Antioxidant Juice, or your favorite juice / 6 oz.

Place all ingredients in a punch bowl. For an added bonus you can freeze the fruit cocktail before you put it in punch bowl (in baggies - then slightly thaw to remove from baggie)For extra color place fresh peppermint on top of punch.

7. HSL's Joke or Cute Quote of the Week
=========================================
As a little girl climbed onto Santa's lap, Santa asked the usual,"And what would you like for Christmas? "The child stared at him open mouthed and horrified for a minute,then gasped: "Didn't you get my E-mail?"

1. How To Comfort A Loved One Who Is Dying
===========================================
One of the most difficult things in life is experiencing the loss of a loved one. Worse than that is feeling the powerlessness of not knowing what to do to help make the loved one's transition more comfortable.

Here are 7 of the "17 ways to Comfort A Loved One Who is Sick or Dying", a Free Special Report offered on my website http://peacefulpassages.org

--Clear and straighten the environment A cluttered environment creates obstacles for movement and can bean unknown source of stress. Have bedsides and surrounding area clear from unnecessary clutter.
--Control the room temperature. Most people who are sick or dying have altered body temperatures. Do your best to get a clear indication as to whether they are hot or cold and adjust the room temperature and bedding to regulate them.
--Wipe face and eyes with warm, moistened, soft washcloth. This can feel so wonderful to the person who is bedridden. Offer it more than once or twice a day.
--Lightly spray or diffuse essential oils in the environment. Essential Oils such as lavender and citrus can have a calming and peaceful effect. Mix a few drops with distilled water in a spray bottle to spray in the air, or diffuse with a cold air diffuser made specifically for aromatherapy use. Be certain not to use perfume or perfume grade oils. Use only therapeutic grade essential oils. To create a more spiritual environment, use oils from ancient scripture such as Frankincense.
--Hold or rub their feet. Feet provide access to the entire body through reflex points. Whether you offer a gentle foot massage or just hold their feet - both offer comfort.
--Clear their energy field. A simple measure of using your hands to clear and balance theenergy field of the person who is sick or dying is frequently able to take someone from a level of discomfort to comfort. Place both of your hands approximately 3 inches off their body and move your hands in short sweeping motions downward. Start at the head and move toward the feet.
--Gently brush their brow with a light touch. Touching someone's forehead can offer great comfort to them. People often touch their own foreheads when they feel distressed or unwell. Using a gentle touch to the forehead of someone who is sick or dying is a natural thing to do. Placing your hand and keeping it there, or lightly brushing their brow can offercomfort.

True Wealth
by: Aurora Winter

Most of us are focused on making more money. If we had abit more money -- or a lot more -- then things would really be good! Then we'd do all those things we've been wanting to do. But first, we really have to slay the financial dragon. So we put off taking that family vacation, put off starting our screen play, put off having that child. We think that there will be plenty of time for those things next year.

I know -- I was living this way myself, delaying family holidays, delaying having a second child, intent upon achieving financial freedom. Then one day I suddenly achieved financial freedom. And I never felt so impoverished in my entire life. My financial freedom came in the form of a check from a life insurance company. My beloved - my 33-year-old husband --had died. His sudden death turned my whole world upside down. He was my best friend. He was my business partner. And he was the father of our 4-year-old son.

We would never again take a family holiday together. The financial goals I had been pursuing were suddenly worthless. One more family holiday would have been priceless. I realized that my world had been upside-down before he died. And it was only now that it was right-way up. It was only now that I saw clearly what really mattered. It was only now that I understood what wealth was. I realized that true wealth has nothing to do with the balance in your bank account, your stock portfolio, or your real estate holdings.

True wealth is rooted in four things:
--LOVE
The people in our lives are our biggest treasure. Giving and receiving love is life's sweetest blessing. And it is free. All it takes is a little time and attention. Yet so often we forget to tell those that are near and dear to us that we love them. So often they bear the brunt of our moods - while we give our best to perfect strangers. Don't make this mistake. Tell everyone that you love how much you love and appreciate them. Tell your wife, your husband, your lover, your brother, your mother, your child. Do it right now. You may not get another chance tomorrow. And if you do get another chance tomorrow, tell them all over again. You can never give someone too much love or too much appreciation.
--GRATITUDE
Gratitude is the key to bringing the awareness of prosperity into your consciousness right now. What do you need right now, in this very moment? Take a deep breath and consider your answer. Anyone who is reading this article can truthfully answer tha tright now -- in this very moment -- all needs are met. As Rev. Michael Beckwith says, when you realize that all your needs are met, you create an energy field of all needs being met. And so the Universe delivers to you more and more experiences of all your needs being met. After my husband died, there were many times when I felt empty and grief-stricken. Yet, when I focused on how grateful I was for our son and for the time we shared, I would feel full and blessed. The more things I expressed gratitude for, the more things I discovered to be grateful for. Whatever you focus on, expands. I begin every day with a prayer of gratitude. I highly recommend it. It will change your life.
--HEALTH
King, a friend of mine who was HIV positive, once told me, 'If it can be solved with money, it's not a problem.' He died -- but his words live on. I find this thought powerful and profound. It keeps things in proper perspective. If it can be solved with money, it may be a challenge, it may be an opportunity for growth -- but it's not a problem. Our health is one of our biggest treasures -- yet how many people take it for granted? How many people are too busy to exercise? How many people don't make the time to eat healthy, balanced meals? How many people are too busy to pray and meditate, even though it effectively makes you 10 years younger? If your heart stops ticking, your schedule will be completely cleared. Don't wait for a heart attack -- cherish your body like the temple that it is. It houses a Divine being --you. Exercise, eat right, drink plenty of water, and release stress through meditation and other rejuvenating and healing activities. Your health is your wealth.
--PEACE
The greatest treasure of all is peace of mind. With peace of mind, you can remain calm and connected no matter what challenges life brings to you -- even the death of a loved one, or a devastating blow to your health. Peace of mind brings clarity and the freedom to take appropriate action in every situation. Peace of mind happens when the biggest dream-stealer of all --unresolved loss -- is faced and released. The unresolved loss could be death, divorce, a broken dream, or another loss. My experience is that once the grief is released, love, health, and gratitude rush in. With the right coaching, peace of mindfollows. And that is true wealth.-

3. Complementary Therapies in End of Life Care
============================================
My Dad died five years ago this past Sunday. Although he struggled with emphysema for years, he died peacefully and comfortably at home surrounded by our loving family. Having been an Intensive Care Nurse for years, my greatest prayer was answered. Dad didn't end up on a ventilator dying an uncomfortable death in the hospital.

But it didn't just happen by chance. Myself and my family practice what are called "complementary therapies". Complementary therapies are natural non-invasive, non-medical measures like massage, Healing Touch and other energy therapies, music, and the therapeutic use of essential oils. In conjunction with his medical treatment and hospice care, we provided Dad with these therapies at home. Dad often said these were some of his favorite ways to feel better. The night before my father died he said to me "Marilee, this is wonderful. This is how dying should be. I want you to tell the world about it".

Two months after the funeral I created Peaceful Passages(TM). Within 8 months I held the first professional health care symposium of its kind was held with experts from all over the country offering information on these therapies. The proceeds from this event became the seed money for the M.J. Tolen Scholarship Fund to help advance the awareness of Complementary Therapies in End of Life Care. Samaritan Hospice, a non-profit hospice, in Marlton, New Jersey has become the home for this fund. They were the hospice that provided excellent care to my father.

Coincidentally, the day I presented the check to them to start this fund, my mother was placed on their service as her life was winding down from kidney cancer. We experienced the same opportunity with Mom. We were able to continue to practice our natural comfort and care therapies at home in conjunction with hospice care. She too had a peaceful passing at home surrounded by the family.

This confirmed for me that we can play a part in creating conditions for someone to have a peaceful death. Peaceful Passages (TM) has become my heart project and I believe the M. J. Tolen Scholarship Fund is one of the best ways to fulfill my father's request in "telling the world about this". This fund can help pay for education in complementary therapies. The recipients must use what they are learning in their classes end of life care.

So far the fund has paid for people to take classes in Foot Reflexology, Healing Touch, Spiritual Healing, and the use of Essential Oils. To learn more about Peaceful Passages and the M. J. Tolen Scholarship Fund, go to Peaceful Passages.org. To help advance the awareness of Complementary Therapies in End of Life Care, please make a tax deductible donation to the fund by going to http://tinyurl.com/yx6r9t. You can make your donation here online. Please make sure that you use the drop down box to note that the program you are supporting is the Tolen Fund.
Thank you.

4. Essential Oil Tip: Frankincense for Transition
==================================================
The Essential Oils of Ancient Scripture are very powerful to use when someone is going through the stages of death and dying. Frankincense was used over 5000 years ago as "holy incense toascend and perfume the heavens". A large vat of Frankincense essential oil was found in King Tut's tomb. The Egyptians had a great reverence for this oil, more valuable than gold.

How to use frankincense for transition:

--Diffuse frankincense to create a spiritual environment
--Anoint the forehead, combine with prayer (for more info onanointing with essential oils go to: http://www.ishahealing.com )
--Apply to bottom of feet. It is imperative that a high quality therapeutic grade oil be used in end of life care. Lesser grade oils that are perfume grade have chemicals, fillers, and fixatives that will not create the same effects.

The Young Living Frankincense oil is one of the highest qualities available anywhere. Order your oils from your Young Living distributor or by going to Young Living's Website
